Love the colour preview. Love the image preview. Was going to say "I can see why some people would want to disable it", but then could not think of any reasons, so I can't. That said, OP can go to

Settings > Manage Profiles > [Their profile] > Edit > Mouse > Miscellaneous

and uncheck Preview Colour on Hover.

"Problem" solved.

It is. Includes a a bug-inducing NVIDIA GPU, unfortunately. For the rest of it, it is quite good with Plasma 6.

It seems that whatever I say is taken the wrong way, so i'll leave it here.

Have a nice day.

Read this, see if there is anything that you would like to help with.

Wrong. You can remove Akonadi no problem and it will not affect Plasma's workings. Plasma does not depend on any PIM component to be fully functional.

Yeah... I was surprised too.

Harsh, but true. There is no reason why any Kontact (KMail, KOrganiser, Akonadi, etc.) component should be required by Plasma. These things are independent. Sounds like someone has made a mistake somewhere with the dependencies on your distro.

The instance has recently been updated.

Sure. So the catalogue of natively supported software is large and growing fast all the time. There some more devices that need specific drivers supplied by the provider, and some are not supported at all. It just means you factor one more thing when buying hardware: Is there support under Linux? And that is not one half as hard as it used to be.
