Whoa wait wtf, they blocked a mushroom community? I didn’t hear about that

Lemmy.ca users have been saying that anyone’s welcome, regardless of where they’re from. Sopuli.xyz is really solid too, and also welcomes everyone.

I’m on sh.it just.works and have enjoyed it a lot. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter a whole lot though, you can still join all the communities you did before. So which instance you choose isn’t a massive deal.

But again, they’re not even linking to any pirated content, torrents or otherwise.

What content? You mean the comments generally discussing piracy? Because there’s no actual pirated content being hosted, or even linked to, in that community.

Discussing piracy isn’t illegal. It would be one thing if they were hosting pirated content, but they don’t even link to anything.

If that were to change I’d understand the decision, but this just seems silly to me.

Yes, that’s why CP is banned. It being distributed and sold encourages the further making of it, thus leading to more instances of children being abused.

That’s actually a perfect analogy. Don’t eat hotdogs you’ve found on the ground.

Further consolidation is a major loss

Fr what a selfish kid

[-] CaptainEffort@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Damn, I need me some of those

Yeah, before all the new Reddit refugees the biggest instance was Lemmygrad, which was run and used exclusively by tankies. It gave Lemmy a bad wrap unfortunately.

Obviously with all the new users that’s changed, with instances like Lemmy.World quickly surpassing it. Now I’m not even sure if Lemmygrad is in the top 5. But my point is that most big instances have defederated from Lemmygrad, lemmy.world included.

Well then you better block this one too, because Lemmy.world defederated from the tanky instances. In fact, most instances did.
