"Tobias Ellwood, the former chairman of the Commons defence committee" is about half a year behind with his accusation. So either it's just for show or he's not well informed about this topic.

Already October 2023, this was in the news for everyone to read, that France and the UK are providing the geodata for their cruise missile targets and that the UK has personnel in Ukraine.

One example article I just picked via web search: German Tagesspiegel, dated 05.10.2023

https://www.tagesspiegel.de/politik/keine-taurus-lieferung-fur-die-ukraine-erwarte-vom-kanzler-dass-er-endlich-den-weg-freimacht-10572931.html

Quote & DeepL translation:

The British and French can do something "we can't"

The UK and France have nevertheless supplied cruise missiles of the virtually identical types "Storm Shadow" and "Scalp". According to Bild, Scholz said in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee last week that these two countries "can do something that we are not allowed to do", adding: "So the question does not arise."

What he meant was that the UK and France supplied the geodata for missile targets themselves, with the UK also having its own personnel on the ground in Ukraine. This is out of the question for the German government.

The motivation from the previous nationalist PiS government in Poland was mainly anything they could to do against Russia or against Germany.

So by supporting Ukraine with military equipment, they were acting against Russia. But at the same time slowed down German support for Ukraine, by blocking maintenance and factories for Ukrainian equipment in Poland. Leading to long transports across to other countries e.g. Latvia for maintenance.

Now, with the grain, this has no Russian involvement and their own farmers are unhappy. So there is no way to go against Russia or against Germany. Also there is a new government in Poland, so I guess we have to see how that develops now.

Misleading title.

Article:

"We hear threats from the Kremlin almost every day ... so we have to take into account that Vladimir Putin might even attack a NATO country one day," Pistorius said in an interview with the Berlin-based Der Tagesspiegel newspaper.

While a Russian attack is not likely "for now," the minister added: "Our experts expect a period of five to eight years in which this could be possible."

There is no warning of an attack. There is an analysis that it's not likely for now. And earliest where something like this could become possible, would be that mentioned time frame. That is not what the word warning means. That is a statement about a vague estimate of an unlikely event - of course way less catchy title.

As you didn't read the article:

“This move seems driven by the government’s interest in collecting and centralizing biometric data for identification, tracking, and surveillance purposes,” he said. Omar agreed: “Probably to keep track of the refugees.”

They hand out SIM cards to track those SIM cards. Using a certain messaging app on the phone or not doesn't change SIM card tracking within the network.

The danger comes from the possible legal and financial issues, less from personal injuries.

With more than 25km/h, depending on region/country, it's no longer a bicycle, but a motorised vehicle. Requiring a driver's licence and insurance.

It could be driving without license. Or having one, could lead to insurance issues and thereby problems for the driver's license due to driving an uninsured vehicle. Which again can lead to dramatic financial problems, if you have an accident and no insurance pays. So you'd be stuck with all costs out of your own pocket.

All from that tiny error in the software with having the wrong tire size programmed.

Could very well be targeted at premeditated offences, where team and driver evaluate what's cheaper. Not breaking the rules and not gaining a certain advantage – or breaking the rules, gaining an advantage and paying a (small) fine, as the the advantage is worth more than the penalty costs.

This equation changes a lot with a 1m Euros maximum fine and maybe prevents decisions to break rules.

The article is quite harmless compared to the silly title.

But the main argument is that Android has too many settings and options where users don't even know what they are good for. And with further development it's getting more features and more options.

That seems to be a very minor and rather luxury problem to have more and more features and options.

On the PC, there are lots of programs that already use a short list of options available and then a checkbox with 'I'm an expert' or 'Advanced settings' to show them all. More settings means more freedom for the user to chose from. Hiding them would be a simple task. But just because they exist and are shown, this doesn't mean that anyone has to click on anything without even knowing what it does. So it's not really a problem besides reading 3 more words in the list of settings but not doing anything with it.

For options I don't know, I just use a web search in case I'm interested. Or I just ignore them as long as I don't have a problem related to the topic.

Data centres, business, hospitals etc. run batteries to bridge the gap until the diesel starts running. It can take a minute or a few until the diesel generator takes over, but it can run for hours and days with refuelling.

Getting batteries for 8h is expensive and risky - what if the power cut suddenly lasts 9h? With batteries you have a fixed storage, with petrol or diesel you can just refuel.

Having that unreliable electricity, my home server would be the least of my problems. I would already have a generator to keep the fridge running so the food doesn't go bad every other day.

This is quite interesting, as commonly weapon system sales can be based on data sheets, video presentations, theoretical scenarios, shooting range tests or 3rd party experience and reports.

In this case, Ukraine was able to test various IFV models from multiple countries in an actual war. And then after testing, Ukraine chose the CV-90. That's a good selling point for BAE systems.

In the 1st paragraph is a link to the previous article of the same experiment a few months ago, that has some more details mentioned:

researchers have managed to release 2.5 MJ of energy after using just 2.1 MJ to heat the fuel with lasers.

the positive energy gain reported ignores the 500MJ of energy that was put into the lasers themselves.

It should be clear that most of the information in the news is quoted from Putin.

That also explains why someone who just bombed grain silos in multiple Ukrainian port cities and ended the U.N. grain deal, blames the West for screwing poor countries over.

Or he blames western sanctions for food shortages, while at the same time bragging about exporting 60 million tonnes of grain last year and expecting a record grain harvest this year. Which again is a cynical remark, as Russia was caught stealing tonnes of Ukrainian grain to sell it as their own.

There is not a lot of sense or truth in Putin's statements.
