Still better than flying next to a baby.

I like John Oliver's take that he really didn't like the orders to shut down factories during pandemic and got a lot of support from 'mah freedom' nutjobs over this causing not-so-slow fall into the extreme right rabbit hole. It actually makes a lot of sense. He clearly craves attention and approval. He used to get it from the left because electric cars are green and SpaceX is cool technology but eventually the left began demanding more regulation and he started getting some criticism (which he doesn't like that much...). At the same time he noticed that the right is ready to accept him as the 'free speech savior' and love him unconditionally as long as he will help them 'own the libs' so he switched sides.

AFAIK the regulation already says that the "only necessary" should be available with one click. I think the issue is that it's difficult to go after all the small pages that are breaking the law. The big ones like YT of Google already have the 'disable all' button on top, I'm guessing because EU complained.

Yep, I guess it's time to cancel Netflix.

I though the same but I tried Tauri and it makes sense. Unlike electron you're not shipping the entire browser with your app and the the low level stuff is just rust so the integration is nice and easy. And using webview for UI? Why not? The reactive libraries are actually nice to work with, it's easy to customize, you have all the tools to inspect/debug your code. It's definitely better then trying to fit GTK into rust.

Paying damages out of police retirement founds would be a simple, one step, foolproof solution to this problem. You don't want lower retirement? Stop breaking the law. Oh, you're one of the 5 good cops in the country and this would hurt you even though you did nothing wrong? Actually report the bad cops instead just watching. Thanks.

And of course all shit electric cars are all automatic. It's part of the NWO agenda. They want to force us all into electric, automatic cars, Over my dead body! A car that does not produce smelly fumes when driving is not a real car. What I am supposed to smell when walking in the city? Air? Fucking dumb. On top of that they make no sound! There's nothing to tune up to make my car sound like a racing machine. How I'm supposed to let everyone know I have a small dick if I can't rev my engine all the time? Not to mention electric cars don't emit CO2 so I can't lock myself in a garage with the engine running and kill myself when I realize that no one is impressed by my car and my dick is still tiny. Absurd!

I use a broom. It's good for privacy and uses 100% green energy.

I'm thinking about learning to play drums for some time now and I have a question. If I'm a complete beginner should I still get a full drum set? I know you can buy a cheap electric set for like $300 but can I start with something smaller and simpler? Are there some kind of electric pads that would work for taking first steps and that would later let me progress to full drum set? It's not that I don't have space, I'm just not sure I will stick with it and I don't want to be stack a big set I don't use later. Or full set is actually the best way to start?

Haven't seen any posts about this and it's a pretty big thing. From DMA website:

Examples of the “do’s”: gatekeepers will for example have to:

  • allow third parties to inter-operate with the gatekeeper’s own services in certain specific situations;
  • provide companies advertising on their platform with the tools and information necessary for advertisers and publishers to carry out their own independent verification of their advertisements hosted by the gatekeeper;
  • allow their business users to promote their offer and conclude contracts with their customers outside the gatekeeper’s platform.

Example of the “don'ts”: gatekeepers will for example no longer:

  • treat services and products offered by the gatekeeper itself more favourably in ranking than similar services or products offered by third parties on the gatekeeper's platform;
  • prevent users from un-installing any pre-installed software or app if they wish so;
  • track end users outside of the gatekeepers' core platform service for the purpose of targeted advertising, without effective consent having been granted.

We'll see how this plays out but this is first move in a very long time that could open up platform like WhatsApp to 3rd party clients and force Google and Apple to open their mobile OSes to other apps. Maybe we'll see stock Android without play services? One can dream...

Recommend me a game (linux.community)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by ExLisper@linux.community to c/linux_gaming@lemmy.world

Hi all,

Recommend me a game! I'm looking for something casual (to play for 20-30 minutes from time to time), challenging (like in difficult to master), not super complicated (I don't want to spend hours learning all the rules), but not super simple (when it's too repetitive the patters get ingrained in my brain. anyone else has this?), cheap (don't want to spend $30 on a game I will play from time to time). Must work on Linux and on an integrated GPU. Games I enjoyed previously:

  • Fistful of Frags
  • smashcarts.io
  • xevil

What I did a lot years ago was to play single levels of games over and over until I totally crashed it even if I wasn't that interested in the entire game. I guess what I like most is figuring out the smallest details of a game, not getting into long campaigns.

So, what can I play?

Edit: Thanks for all recommendations so far but I see I need to add one more requirement: no levels. I'm looking for something quick, in and out, skirmish, death match, melee type of game. Not something where you build a character, solve puzzles and so on.

They will add this fine to the price of the apartments. It should be really simple: certain % of the units have to be social housing or you will not get building permit, period.

Not much different. Foldable phones will be widespread, American cars will be bigger, shaving machines will have more blades, natural disasters will be more common. We will go through one or two more cycles of drought/forest fires and heavy rains/floodings. We will see one or two mass migrations from India, Pakistan and Africa resulting in first climate refuge camps on the borders of EU.

Bout time. Spain did it two years ago and now has inflation down to 2%.
