I met two people with my dead name and a third who used the nickname I used to (think Christina/Tina) all in the same job. I thought it would be weird, but I realized that I never identified with those names, I just used them because it was expected.

I imagine it's different for other people, but that's how it has been for me

We can't be giving homeless people free drinking water when there's golf courses to maintain in the desert /s

It's ridiculous how society treats homeless people like pests

She is unfortunately having other medical problems. The steroid either isn't working anymore or she forgets that she isn't in pain/expects certain touches to be painful, I'm not sure which.

This cat has my whole heart. Like if soul mates could be pets, she's mine.

Thank you for sharing, and understanding the struggle with giving our little loved ones the life and death they deserve. I'm sorry that you had to make that choice, but I'm glad that you had the strength to do so for her.

I think about my grandfather often since my little Ami has shown the same symptoms he had. I've always been so grateful that by the time the end came for him, it was quick, and I know that's what he would have wanted. Perhaps that's the view I need to keep for her

There's four justices over the age of 70 (one is Sotomayor). Not that age means much in regards to mortality when one has the resources that they do

It does feel like there's a new wave of change, I have no idea if it's due to new reddit refugees or general discontent. But yes, there does seem to be a lot more down voting, more quarrelsome comments, less cohesion within some communities.

There's also been a few posts sprinkled across instances discussing some accounts that do nothing but down vote. No comments, no posts, just down votes

I have a hard time believing they didn't know of and weren't complicit in the attack on Iran. They just diverted an arms shipment from Ukraine to ~~Israel~~ that specifically are claimed to counter Iranian drones

Edit: I saw it was to Israel on the BBC I think, but this article says otherwise

I've honestly been chickenshit and kept my head down despite invitations. I know how necessary these protests they are doing are, I've just not gotten to a place where I can join yet. I don't know if my friend who I mentioned was there, I didn't see him, but he's also not replying rn lol

Thank you for sharing this, I've spread it around locally

High pH is basic btw. I'm assuming you meant low pH with the reference to soda

My acid reflux has nothing to do with acidic or basic foods, and everything to do with the ratio of fat I've eaten or how many alcoholic drinks I've had in an evening. Beer is about a hundred times less acidic than soda (for reference) and soda doesn't set my reflux off

My point is that human bodies are weird and we react in weird ways to food. That's why we have to trial foods

Millions of American people with Irish ancestry fly or even have the Irish flag tattooed on themselves. They even flew it in protests and marches last year over how Biden responded to the genocide in Gaza, but I'm sure that's totally different

Some molecules have a rotation that is centered on a chiral carbon atom and is named by the way the other atoms of the molecule rotate. There are some rules to it, but L is levorotatory and means it rotates to the left or counter-clockwise. D is dextrorotatory and spins to the right, or clockwise.

Edit: spelling errors lol

I knew someone who was voluntarily homeless. He sometimes stayed in hostels so he could shower and brush his teeth. How do you manage personal hygiene?

Voyager doesn't have the ability to do this in the app, you will have to use a browser
