"Page refresh". You mean F5 (or ctrl + r) right?

You got most things right about UDP and TCP. They both work in the transport layer of the OSI model. They are also completely different protocols, related yes but independent.

UDP is "simpler" as it basically throws data packages in to the network and hope they reach their destination. TCP on the other hand has checks in place that verifies that a data package has actually reached its destination.

Whatsapp uses the same protocol as signal so MITM is unlikely however there's no way to know what happens before or after the messages are encrypted/decrypted and sent. They can do that scanning at that stage.

That is different than Signal which (unless they changed something with the profiles thing) was always P2P E2EE. You’re sending encrypted messages directly to the other persons phone, not to a server.

Sender cannot know where the recipient is and using P2P would be resource consuming on all client devices (i.e. everyone who uses Signal) so I guess the messages are routed thru Signal's servers though messages are encrypted on device with keys that only the messaging parties know (couldn't find an official diagram for this to confirm).

Just because something was last updated last year doesn't mean they aren't up-to-date. Not all software need constant updating. It's an illusion that software must be updated constantly. If it's feature complete and there are no known issues with it why bother.

Kdenlive is software I've seen recommended for video editing.

If you taboo a pattern it and the packages it would install will never be installed automatically. I tend to taboo those games patterns.

They address that bad wording on subscription in the comments in that blog. If you have a fallback license to v. 2024.1 or newer the feature will stay active even if you stop your subscription.

Yes, and when the company gets hacked they can sue you for not keeping “your” computer secure enough.

Sounds very American point-of-view. Installation and usage was officially sanctioned. Most developers in both companies preferred to use Linux, some used Macs, wintoys users were a minority. Neither company had any super restrictive corporate BS on their wintoys installation. Neither company is based in the Americas. Both are local companies in the EU.
