Anti-Semitism is indeed a problem, but given the situation it should be 100% allowed to criticise Israel's conduct in its handling of the war. The modern state of Israel =/= the Jewish religion. Many on both sides of the argument forget that.

Sonic Team's follow-up to the Sonic franchise. Released on the Sega Saturn, so despite it being one of the Saturn's better-selling games, few people played it back when it was new. It has a decent cult following of fans and seems to be generally regarded as a good-but-not-spectacular game (like a solid 7-8 out of 10), but it's nowhere near Mario 64's caliber.

Didn't help that the games weren't there for it either. But the vicious cycle of "console needs games to sell units -> devs won't make games for consoles that don't sell" was in full effect for the 7800, and really any Atari console after the 2600, except maybe their Lynx handheld (which still lived in the Game Boy monolith's shadow just like every other competing handheld).

I'm a centrist but I lean slightly right, and I've used Linux for 15 years. There are plenty of conservatives who use Linux for the privacy and security advantages it offers. At least one of the Linux YouTubers I watch is quite conservative. That said, Linux dev communities don't tend to take kindly to conservative members voicing opinions while many allow left-wing opinions free rein, and some distro devs have openly stated they don't want conservatives using their software. They should either allow political opinions from everyone or nobody, IMO. I'd say preferably just leave politics out of it altogether, FOSS should be open to be used by anyone regardless of politics or any other factors.

Fire Emblem delayed their 30th anniversary game by two years. It sat, completed, on the shelf with no real proper explanation as to why. Instead they did a temporary release of the original 8-bit version of the first Fire Emblem on the eShop, when a superior version in essentially every way is available on the DS. If all they were going to do was release an original game on the eShop, the least they could have done was do a worldwide release of one of the games in the series that's still stuck in Japan. Then the actual anniversary game (Engage) finally released two years later, and... it's mid. Not bad, especially gameplay wise, but held back by a laughably cartoonish story, especially compared to its predecessor Three Houses. The mobile game Heroes has some better stories than Engage.

That's my thought, these are worldwide numbers, so while the "premium" VPN services are popular in developed countries where most have the disposable income to afford them, those in developing countries may find the free services much more accessible, even if they aren't as reliable. Income may not even be too much of a factor, sometimes software or services can get popular in places like India where there's just a very high population. India played a big part in worldwide desktop Linux growing to 4% market share, for example.

I used it a few times. Essentially having a one-click scan was nice, but I could never get it to properly update the virus definitions. Now I just run clamd, freshclam and clamonacc at startup. Uses a ton of RAM but then I don't have to worry about actually doing anything beyond that.

Looks like Splatoon at home doesn't have the same appeal as Pokemon at home (note: just using "at home" to note similarity, not to downplay quality).

Completed the story part of the Pokémon Teal Mask DLC and mostly completed its pokedex as well (just need one other version exclusive and one trade evo... I hate trade evos...), so I will probably mostly be going back to finally finish Tears of the Kingdom or playing my PC strategy RPGs, with small checks for raids featuring those last two pokémon every so often. I started one of those strategy RPGs last night, Symphony of War. Billed itself as more of a Fire Emblem clone but actually pulls more from Langrisser, IMO. Just advertises with the Fire Emblem name for recognition, probably. Anyone else here know Langrisser? Picked the remakes of 1 and 2 up on the eShop a couple years back but I admit I didn't get too far in it. Might be another thing to look at going back to after TotK.

Did something unusual for me and picked up the Pokemon DLC and started it before finishing Tears of the Kingdom. Needed a break from TotK for a while anyway. Since it's only been out a couple days I don't think I've gotten too incredibly far into it, but it's still good ol' Pokemon fun so far. I just really wish Game Freak would put more effort into fixing the optimization (if they can) because almost a year in it still chugs in places it really shouldn't.

I have that on my wishlist, I should pick it up as a belated birthday gift to myself if it's on sale then. 😁

The one problem is, specifically with this type of conversation, anyone even in the center is not welcome in the conversation because the echo chamber is so strong that anything even in the center is instantly labeled "misinformation". Who decides what the difference between "opinion I disagree with" and "misinformation" is? Far too often it's left to a person or group, be it on the left or the right, that holds that anything they or the most vocal political users disagree with is "dangerous misinformation". And I tend to notice that unless it's a specific right-wing instance like explodingheads, anything that's not on the far left is either down voted to oblivion or outright removed and anyone who posts or says anything positive about it is effectively driven out, including people who argue such things in good faith. That tends to lead to the creation of such instances as explodingheads and attitudes like the people who reside there.
