Yes capitalism sucks for humans, animals, and the rest of the planet.

I’ve been wanting to watch it and your comment makes me want to see it even more.

I don’t live in the US anymore and Max doesn’t have English subtitles for some of their shows in my region, which is pretty annoying. Including for the Leftovers! That’s why I’ve been putting off seeing it. Haha. Ugh. It’s funny because I check it again every once in a while to see if there are English subtitles, which is how bad I wanna see the show.

I did encounter a very sour group on a certain subreddit somewhat recently haha. But then just yesterday I was searching something online, found a relevant Reddit post through Google, and found a comment thread where two people were tearing each other apart for no reason other than a slight disagreement. It wasn’t a “hmm, I don’t think so.” It was a long chain where the further you went, the darker, meaner, and snarkier it got. Wish I remembered it right now. That’s what got me thinking and making the meme. But yeah, maybe my own experience planted the initial seed.

Is it difficult if it’s also inevitable? In a social setting, a child will either learn a language or develop one — two wild children would develop a rudimentary language that would evolve in complexity as it’s passed down generation by generation. I wonder if a feral child, who matured alone and without social interaction, could learn a language later in life. Or, if it could, how difficult it would be.

What do you mean by the critical period in learning being a byproduct of learning over time as opposed to a special feature of the brain’s age? I don’t think I grasp it. Are you saying that it’s not really the brain’s age, but rather that it hasn’t learned a lot yet? Which are distinct but highly correlated.

Exactly. Our ability to use language, create culture, abstract ideas and concepts and step outside of them are the ingredients that allow us to transcend our evolutionary instincts and urges, and that’s exactly what we should do when building a society and culture.

The bad feelings turn into three Cronenberg lasagnas: a nihilistic Cronenberg lasagna, an existential Cronenberg lasagna, and an absurdist Cronenberg lasagna. Similar to the ghosts of Christmas in A Christmas Carol, the Cronenberg lasagnas take Rick and Morty on different journeys to teach them how to deal with bad feelings.

It actually doesn't really bother me, especially with memes and random internet content like that. I've seen posts on Reddit that were actual art, where the title of the repost implies the poster created the art and that it's not a repost. It's lame for a few reasons, such as commenters trying to engage with the alleged creator and the OP not replying, then people finding out it's a repost, etc. But, honestly, whatever.

Honestly, I still haven't fully solved the problem. I wish I could give you a great answer.

Sometimes I have no struggles working and taking breaks, other times I fall into this same trap you've just described. I think it amounts to a lot of different factors — some weird paradoxical mix of procrastination, fear, insecurity, passion, displeasure, and overconfidence.

I've learned, though, to accept certain tasks as completely necessary in life (like doing the dishes) so that I am able to do them guilt free. At least I can do that. I feel you though. In a general sense, I still struggle with the problem.

I think part of it amounts to making a decision and sticking to it rather than being on the fence. Maybe that's discipline? E.g., "this morning I will go on a run, make a nice breakfast, wash the dishes, get started on laundry, read or play music for a bit, and then finally I will sit down to work." Then, when actually executing the first part of the plan, just ignore the ever living fuck out of any feeling of guilt. But, again, I am still putting that into practice.

Good luck to you and me.

Hope for whatever, or for nothing… or something. Sometimes what we hope for is stupid or will have unexpected consequences that will harm us. So, want less and accept more — work with what you got. But you still gotta give a push sometimes.
