Well, no matter how I trust my photo editing app, it has no business accessing my thesis documents. Proper filesystem sandboxing does security properly.

The file picker API is there to allow apps to access and save files with the user's consent, while bot having any filesystem access. So a properly sandboxed app would be able to open, edit, and save files wherever the user wants, while not having access to any other irrelevant files, such as your .bashrc or memes folder.

Isn't that hook used by Zoom for screen sharing? IIRC Zoom on Linux only worked on GNOME because Zoom's screen sharing implementation was to call GNOME's screenshotting hooks 30 times per second

They might as well turn it to a 13 dash line and include the entire Luzon as well if they want to fully enforce this. Article 5: Philippine-American Edition.

You can try out Fedora Kinoite or Silverblue. Stuff just works and is very hard to break. Kinoite uses KDE which has a more Windows-like UI, and Silverblue uses GNOME which has a more modern UI but will take some time for Windows users to get used to.

After installing either of those, you should rebase to Universal Blue Bluefin if you chose Silverblue, or to Universal Blue kinoite-main/kinoite-nvidia for NVIDIA GPUs if you chose Kinoite. Alternatively, rebase to Universal Blue Bazzite if you do a lot of gaming.

This may sound intimidating, but the procedure is straightforward and beginner-friendly. Once you do it, you'll have a system that will be very stable and hard to break. All maintenance will be done for you.

You can subscribe to Sync Ultra for a yearly price of ₱930 to save ₱378/y compared to if you pay ₱109 monthly. But at that point it's wiser to just eventually save ₱1100 to be able to remove ads.

Or just use NextDNS to prevent the ads from getting to your phone in the first place. 😉
