Seems totally reasonable but also keep in mind that planes are very vulnerable to shrapnel and for these planes in particular replacement parts are either a bajillion doll hairs or not available all together

R/Lebanon was discussed on here recently. For further illustration, this is the top post on r/Lebanon right now:

This is top post on r/Lebanese

Does anybody have any info/takes on free speech in the USSR? Particularly in the lead up to collapse? I was thinking about authoritarian crack downs on things like free speech, the recent thing with the Telegram guy, the arrest of various activists for nothing. And I understand there have always been infringements on these rights, assassinations, and all that. But lately it seems to be getting more blatant, rushed, and inconsistent.

Chud twitter is quating this with communism. On the left this sort of thing seems to be equated with fascism

But like, isn't this just a symptom of a panicked ruling class, narrative loss, and incoming collapse? Did something similar genuinely happen in the USSR, especially toward the end, or was it a complete western invention? This is a difficult thing to research because of course you're going to get propaganda from every angle.

I'm on 4 hours of sleep and 20 mg of gummies so I apologize if this was a stupid question

Feds have been generally anti netanyahu for at least 3 months now. It's pacifying for many people and they do intend to pin this shit on him eventually

Any thoughts that Jeff Bezos actually exposed that billionaire WhatsApp chat?

I am referring to this leak from 2 days ago which I assume has made the rounds here:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/05/16/business-leaders-chat-group-eric-adams-columbia-protesters/

It seems weird that one shot right to the Washington Post, which isn't typically how these things leak out. Bezos was in allegedly in the chat, but I don't know if WP would have done this if there was anything incriminating about Bezos.

I love this as a fan theory, I love the intrigue. You have a group of your competition willing to throw themselves on the pire in increasingly obviously ways. You sit on the chat and then once the damage is done blast that out from your own newspaper. Maybe he had beef the Kind bar guy. Maybe this ordeal is fucking with his portfolio overall. Maybe he just wanted to throw his weight around and knock the other reptilians down a few pegs.

Israel's response at the ICJ was an interesting watch. The body language was like a kid who comes home after a fight at school, knowing the school is going to call your parents, jumping everytime the phone rings.

This level of mass psychosis is fascinating. Does anybody have any decent takes or resources on this. It's truly remarkable to watch.

This makes a lot more sense when you consider that the US, or at least some faction of it, wants a broader conflict. Gaza continued even as an ongoing failure because it was succeeding as a provocation, but maybe not the exact way they wanted. I don't think they anticipated the Houthi or Turkey for example.

They're pumping that out on every platform and it still underperforms even when boosted. The problem isn't the medium, it's that the elite has become so insulated they can't make things that appeal to their subjects anymore.

Do they think young people are going to start watching cable news? Because I'm almost 40 and that shit is as alien as inter dimensional cable. I wouldn't watch it if it was the only thing available. And if you take away my distractions, I'm probably going to become more of a problem.
