I agree with your first paragraph but not the second.

While I agree this is corporate welfare, the Conservatives, if they do anything of this sort, just skip the middle man and gift money to companies directly via tax cuts with no strings attached (that is all Harper ever did)

To clarify, I am NOT defending the liberals here. But if we compare, the Conservatives don't even participate

Adoption? or forced usage?

[-] Jhex@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Exactly. And, unfortunately, we have to evaluate this in the current context.

A majority for Carney, basically removes power from the other parties. The NDP is in shambles, hopefully on the way up with a new leader but we'll see.

For the rest, the opposition was Poilievre who has nothing useful to say or contribute. I was hoping this latest humiliation would get PP tossed and, maybe, hopefully, if hell froze over, the Conservatives would choose a leader that is worth listening to... but alas, that does not seem to be the case.

All in all, I do not like majorities but considering the Orange menace down south, I think a gov that can move quickly may prove useful.

Every single tax discount the government offers plays out like this. When Trudeau rolled out some green building initiative, every single Window vendor I was getting quotes from, raised their prices to match the discount

Carney: "The old order is not coming back" = provocative

Trump: "I shit on the world and will take over a territory because I didn't get a shiny medal" = Trump discusses international policy

Hi Lemmy,

I want to do a project that involves concrete. Basically I am making steps, giving them texture and stamping them so it looks somewhat like stones.

I have watched a million videos and I feel I can tackle this, plus I have a lot of areas to practice that won't be too visible so if the steps look a bit amateur it's fine.

My biggest question is about the effort of mixing concrete. I have a corded drill with a mixing paddle and most steps won't require much. However a few are larger and I would have to mix 10 bags or so. The drying time allows me to work one at a time and then do my stamping but I was wondering if this is feasible from an effort perspective.

I am an experienced DIYer but have not worked much with concrete, I made a coffee table, post bases, etc but never something that requires so many bags... am I setting myself up for failure / a broken back? hehehe

They are trying to buy goodwill.

English is a funny language, I thought this was called a bribe but it's just good will after all
