It's because they were never that effective before. But with the advent of drones, they have suddenly become a wildly important protection. This is cause the drones can get stuck in those slat gaps. No other weapon before had this kind of weakness. They were all basically just ballistics before drones.

That's literally not the article I linked. Also we are talking about a call to a ceasefire, which China has called for on both conflicts.

*Edit: Also

Beijing supporting the Kremlin’s plans economically rather than openly amid international pressure.

China is also the US's second largest trade partner. Your article is just repeating that yes, China will sell to countries that commit war crimes. They never said they would stop and your article is loudly proclaiming it. That's nice, but irrelevant.

Actually, both China and the Philippines have an agreement to allow both sides to fish there. And China has even stated regret that at one point their blockade impeded Philippine fishing boats. Additionally, there was no evidence of the Philippine claim that there was cyanide being used, though there is evidence that historically the Philippines themselves have done that.

It's a lot more complicated than most people understand.

That's exactly what they're saying. They are allowing military transit of Chinese ships and aren't building up defensive islands and it's working out for them. To China's point, that's what they're trying to get everyone to do. They want to be the only military in the area, they're not going to do anything else.

China's whole argument is that handing over your corner of the SCS isn't going to make any major difference. Malaysia is agreeing and it's important to note that also is still making military and security agreements with Australia. In other words, besides Chinese patrols nothing will change.

NOW, that said, what right does China have to do that? It's on legally shaky ground at best. I'm not trying to argue that China should have the right to do this. I'm just pointing out that what you're trying to make a "gotcha" isn't a "gotcha" but instead quite literally exactly what's happening.

Well Orban seems 100% on Putin's side regardless. I guess I don't know enough about Germany to know if that's something their far right wants, but wouldn't surprise me. And I suppose that all makes more sense since the far right in USA is clearly on his side already.

Kind of. It's basically an unfinished civil war. At this point for most Taiwanese, status quo simply means we have the freedom to do what we want and we can get advantages from China and the US for standing in the middle. Taiwanese people also know that China blusters and constantly give meaningless final warnings. No Taiwanese person believes China will ever attack.

My problem is, everytime we get into the news, there are economic consequences. Like TSMC losing business due to American sanctions. So my goal here is to try to get everyone to just leave us alone so we can live in the peace and prosperity of not being in the news.

Yes, it is. It's been like this for decades now. So the fact that it's surprising and used in a way to shock western audiences tells you a lot does it not?

*Edit: Mind you, I'm not for Taiwan being absorbed into China nor am I strong on Taiwan's independence. I just want to point out the way western propaganda works to manipulate people.

*Edit 2: Essentially, if the KMT has been talking like that for decades and the Taiwanese still vote for them in large enough numbers to win them most of the seats last election, what does that tell you about the Taiwanese people's desire for independence? How does the media report on that? Why are these two pieces of information so conflicting.

They're already doing that. That's why the spending bill is being rolled up into one. That way they can say they're voting for it to stop the Russian genocide and so what if it does a little genocide in the Middle East.

Sadly, your joke is just reality

Right, I knew 2 died, I got them mixed up a tiny bit. Below I have provided sources.

Well that and MS is like a national champion in China. MS is one of the few companies to follow Chinese law and thus, Bing is the only foreign search engine allowed. MS is what China is hoping every other foreign company will emulate. So yeah, no way China is going to go after MS.

*Edit. Heck, MS is expanding in China even amidst the tech war because they love China so much.

If anything USA should be banning MS for national security issues.

Ten Chinese air force aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defence zone . . . Of those aircraft, the ministry said 10 had either crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, which previously served as an unofficial barrier between the two sides, or entered the southwestern part of Taiwan’s air defence identification zone, or ADIZ.

This is what the original post quoted. Flying over international air space is NOT news worthy. Unless China does it, suddenly it's news. And yes, in case you don't understand, the median line IS international air space. In fact, that's USA's whole point of freedom of navigation is that anyone can fly or sail over that median line.

So if your argument that countries shouldn't freely fly or sail over the Taiwan Strait, you agree with China, NOT Taiwan.

Ah yes, the country with the 3rd largest stock exchange is clearly much smaller than other countries.
