I don't think starfleet captains have the authority to command the hearts and minds of their officers.

When using the official Mastodon app (as suggested in the "guide") "instances" are not a factor at all (unless the user specifically goes out of their way). A new user could have never even heard of the term "instance" and the above steps would work fine.

You don’t just download the app, create an account, and go.

Actually with Mastodon this is literally how it works.

EDIT: I should say this is how it works now, it didn't always used to be this way. The official Mastodon app used to ask the user to pick an instance, but for a number of years now it defaults every new account to mastodon.social unless they opt out. There was a big brouhah about centralization but the Mastodon devs felt it made for easier on boarding.

Good advice, also Fedora's "atomic" distros are both bleeding edge and extremely stable!

I don't know if it's correct to say that Vulcan culture is unaffectionate, just thay they don't express affection in the way you are used to. Remember: Spock was played the way he was in the 1960s to demonstrate the distance humans are willing to go to tolerate other cultures, no matter how (literally in this case) alien.

There's definitely a lot to unpack in suggesting that their culture deserves to "fail" because they do not assimilate (lol) into your culture.

I love the TOS Mudd episodes (and Roger Carmel's performance) but I have to agree with everything you said.

Agree completely, I also just feel it's important to highlight that style of inauthentic behavior.

Fedora Kinoite.

  • You will basically never need the terminal.
  • Highly tweakable, but out of the box is very similar to windows
  • It's immutable (impossible to break)
  • App "store" makes sense and is not weird.
  • Extremely fast.

Well said and I'm glad to see this perspective expressed. "Entertainment" is the spice we give art to well, spice it up. But without the art part, pure entertainment is to our minds like eating a bowl of candy is to our bodies.

Well said. I think AI "art" is really best considered just a form of entertainment since there is no human perspective put into it. Adam Savage said it best (paraphrasing here) "In order for me to be interested in a work of art it needs to be coming from a point of view. I don't see anything resembling a point of view with AI."
