I have a lot of monetarily worthless stuff that means a lot to me. Souvenirs from trips, some heirlooms from my grandparents, stuff like that. Not gonna be worth anything in insurance but means a lot to me.. it's a dumb take that theft isn't a crime.
And that shows you don't understand the power of "just owning shares". It's a whole fucking shit load better than having income or money. He can take whatever loan he wants with his stocks as collateral. He skips out completely on doing anything helpful to society whatsoever. People are struggling because of this system, yes, and people like Bezos are happily living grand off of it
I remember the time before everyone and their mother lived chronically online and were constantly bombarded with (fake) news. Terrible stuff - wars, famine, whatnot - has always happened, now we just know about it instantly.
I think it can be difficult to relate to such abstract concepts and consequences that you don't feel directly. After all, it'd be much easier to press on a button that'd kill 10 000 people living 10 000 km away from you than to stab one person to death. Out of sight out of mind.
My point being that I don't think he's indifferent to people that he doesn't know, he's simply not able to process all the ramifications of this particular thing. The effects of data collection and manipulation is quite subtle, after all, like the frog in the slow burning pot
All countries are "made up".. modern Italy was fully unified in 1870 and Germany in 1871.
What is a real European country in your opinion?
You guys need more than just two relevant parties. AOC being this popular should prompt her to start her own movement, supported by Bernie, raher than clinging to the "Democrats".
Let's not excuse a guy attempting to blow up a random fertility clinic.
It's perfectly reasonable not to want children yourself, but definitely not to (attempt to) blow someone up for wanting it, Warhol sympathy or not.
I think we forget that generations aren't monoliths but rather the product of a pluralistic world.
I still hear "don't worry the old people will die out" as if young people can't be morons and don't vote, say, far-right
Huge loss for the environment, big win for AI stocks!
Trump supporters can't even read, much less take any kind of higher education degree
I support all the Trump-bashing in the world, but let's not allow crappy big businesses to just blame everything on him. McDonald's has a responsibility and they haven't lived up to it. Blaming Trump for consumers not choosing your overpriced, shitty product is not reasonable.
Greeks don't live on stolen land built on theft, oppression, and active genocide. Israelis do.
