Glad to see this getting some press. I got my ballot and have also helped 2 others register this year. Many people don't realize how easy it is to vote abroad!
In case you're asking in good faith... The downside is that non-citizens voting is simply not a problem. The number of cases is extremely low, there's nothing to "fix" here. The biggest impact of this policy would be that actual American citizens who do not have, or lost, or forgot to bring their proof of citizenship will not be able to vote. It will predominantly affect poor and marginal populations. People that don't have a passport, don't have easy access to their birth certificate, or aren't aware of the new regulation. Fewer people voting is 100% the goal with this policy.
I didn't take their comment as sarcasm, just a bit snarky...I think you're both on the same page here
Dude, just put a "no junk mail" sticker on your mailbox and it will stop. https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/personal/consumers-choice.page
I assume many of those are bots or paid trolls
The eclipse is more dangerous actually... The visible light is reduced so your pupil expands. But a lot of UV light comes from the corona of the sun which isn't blocked during the eclipse. So your pupils are more open allowing in more of the harmful UV light. And to add to it, your eyes don't realize they are being harmed by UV light without the visible so you don't have that impulse to look away.
Are you sure the tv channels are free? I'm only familiar with Germany: you can get a ton of channels as well but you have to essentially pay a tax for having a tv.
Yep, worked there during the changeover. 2003-04ish. I actually loved working there under the old management, the food was good, quality was the priority. Then the fryers left, replaced by industrial microwaves...but we still baked the muffins. I'm sure even those are frozen/reheated these days.
You're right, but it does have a secondary impact when it can determine control of congress and the state legislatures. Remember, states control their individual voting processes for President, and there's plenty of ways for them to "cheat" legally or otherwise.
Fitzy would never
There's no simple answer to your question, just like there's no quick solution to the problem of inequality. But one premise you've mentioned isn't quite correct. The democratic party hasn't really been "ruling" for most of that time. They've controlled the presidency, yes. But for all except 2 years, they haven't controlled Congress (it's been either divided or republican controlled), and they haven't controlled the supreme court. That said, a lot of Democrats are still happy to push the status quo, and there's plenty of warranted criticism to go around.
Well, you can get water out of your tap, so there's an easy alternative. Use a filter if your tap water is iffy.
