It was, up to the mid 20th century common to label Actors of all types lumpen. Because their industry is reliant on the rich to exist due to the economic costs of the form. Only some of this is the traditional associations of acting with sex work.

Most Opera Singers are iterant contract workers, who work for organisations that themselves are entirely reliant on donations from the rich, and sometimes governments. The rest have a wealthy patron or are already independent financially.

There are very few of the mid century repertory companies left, mostly state funded low grade German houses. Opera Companies make negligible money from ticket sales. Not only is it not profitable, it cannot be made so.

If the capitalist system goes down and the new socialist government doesn't pick up the slack then they lose not just their current jobs but the entire industry. They'll be collectivised like in AES high art companies or cease to exist.

You can totally make things without paying for anything other than a minimal starting industry. Look up tutorials for cosmonaut mode if you want to go hermit kingdom. (or if you're really insane, sputnik mode where you install mods turning the place into a horse drawn 1917 economy)

I've been playing Nightingale. It needs fleshing out and a better tutorial of the advanced mechanics, but so far, it's pretty great. Victorian Fae realm survival crafting with a lot of aesthetics taken from both Victorian adventure novels and Jonathan Stange and Mr Norrell. (yes I know that's regency)

Her performance in Les Mis was a bit meh but it had nothing to do with her, she had the acting and singing chops but the director was making an anti-musical.

Princess Diaries is still amazing though

For all the stupid Bazinga shit techbros talk about, a lot of the whole transhumanist utopia is possible...(eventually) Just not under capitalism. Even the very rich can't make it happen for them because they can't co-ordinate enough resources to achieve social rather than individual results.

Something like a suite of treatments for robust life extention, for instance, requires not just a miracle treatment but a complete overhaul of research, policy, treatment, care and monitoring methodologies. Even if you're rich enough to just buy and fund a full time research hospital devoted to you and you alone, it won't be enough to achieve the goal.

Even a cabal of the rich wont be able to co ordinate it, because at some point it'll get in the way of financial stability and their lanyard wearing handlers will do to them what the Bavarian government did to King Ludwig when his art projects got in the way of his personal finances (he never spent state funds contrary to popular belief, he was just rich enough to fuck the economy.)

And this is before we get to the fact that billionaires have lying grifters hanging from them like flies on shit.

If you want the cool tech shit, for you or your grandkids, communism is the only option.

You can stay but you need to tell us if the set of all sets that do not contain themselves contains itself.

Hey hey we're the Monkeys

And people say our brains are machines

But we're too busy dying

For our results to be seen.
