Lol hey at least you tried and that's what counts.

Just a reminder that the us had the most confirmed covid cases in the world, most confirmed covid deaths in the world, and the 13th highest rate of covid deaths in the world (worse than 92% of the rest of the world!). Oh and in 2019 Oregon just barely avoided having the US lose its "eradicated" status for measles which would make the US the only developed nation in the world to do so. Astoundingly the reason as to why these things happened was in question but surely record amounts of people remaining unvaccinated wasn't a contributing factor. And surely having a president suggest such dynamite and wildly effective cures such as hydroxychloroquine, bleach, or literally suntanning your internal organs rather than a vaccine didn't have any effect whatsoever.

The Ohio senator was asked by a journalist what can be done to stop school shootings. He said further restricting access to guns, as many Democrats advocate, won’t end them, noting they happen in states with both lax and strict gun laws. He touted efforts in Congress to give schools more money for security.

I always find this weird because it just completely glosses over the possibilities of A) the restrictions not really doing anything/enough, B) the incredible ease by which someone can just... Go to another state, and C) how absurdly easy it is to purchase firearms in the secondary market.

In the article he calls for bolstering security at schools. Which I always find funny because what if.... And this is a wild idea... But what if there's a shooting at a location other than a school? Not to mention that studies have shown that the presence of armed guards in schools doesn't actually do much to deter shootings.

Do you honestly think, in the history of humankind, there's never been someone brilliant with super low confidence? Hell, even competent with uncertainty counts as imposter syndrome.

I know countless people that are amazing at something but are super unsure of themselves or don't believe the product of their work is that good.

I, on the other hand, am actually a dumbass.

For the life of me I can't figure out how this is a decisive topic. What is the argument against it? The only thing I can even imagine is people don't want their tax dollars going to feeding children? But I mean, is whether or not it is a good endeavor to feed children really a tough nut to crack?

When walz was picked for VP I noticed one of the talking points Fox News had AGAINST him was that he pushed for free food in schools. Why the hell is that a bad thing??

That may be the most well lit house I've ever seen in my life. That damn place looks like a library or a business or something.

This video was such absolute bull crap lol. He randomly found some dude on like his SECOND night homeless that let him stay in a spare room for free.

Then he flipped free stuff on Craigslist and Facebook for cash which is... fine I guess. A little sleazy but whatever. Magically found transportation and the ability to store and haul this stuff all over town but never explained any of that.

Then he majestically found someone to cosign and provide initial payments to rent like a four bedroom house that he sublet to 3 other tenants... So he found some random guy to COSIGN for him which is crazy knowing how much liability that puts on you while ALSO finding a landlord that is allowing a guy with no job, no income, no credit, no prior residences, and no money to not only rent from him with a random co signer but also allowing him to sublet to three other random ass people the landlord will never even meet. This is possible... But EXTREMELY unlikely. Also, the fact that this dude tries to do a homeless challenge by immediately becoming a landlord is pretty funny ngl. Also it's worth noting that his final number ($64k or whatever) was revenue not profit. He said himself he was making about 50% profit so he made closer to around $30k on the year.

And on top of all that, the fact that he cites health issues as this unforeseen unfortunate issue that got in the way of his inevitable success is kinda rich. That's... kinda the deal with poverty. You fall on hard times. Health often falls apart. Unexpected expenses destroy you. It can and often does completely tear your world apart. Thems the breaks man lol. Dude just experienced life a little and quit.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure that's just cause the sun is upside down over there or something.

The end reads like a bad Amazon review or something and it cracks me up.

I look forward to Christians saying this is blasphemous and it subsequently being made illegal. As is tradition.

Why don't Lemmy posts (from any instance) show up on search engines? Like if I try my hardest to get a thread to show up, virtually nothing from the actual instances in the fediverse comes up. I'm sure if I searched the exact url or something I could get it but it's very noticable that the search engines by and large just kind of gloss over posts on here and I'm not sure why.

This stinks cause that was one of the biggest draws for reddit. So many times when you search some super obscure or specific question you'd get a few reddit threads with all sorts of information.
