"It's easy with tool that requires extensive knowledge. Do it with another tool that requires extensive knowledge and it's even easier."

You just showed everyone the elitism I was talking about, thank you.

Please don't misuse the term 'paranoid' like that. It's a medical term for a serious condition and we really don't need to start labeling ourselves like that, others already do that for us way too often.

Now if we could just get rid of all those power-hungry dicks who keep poisoning the human spirit, let it be with Capitalism, Maoism, Neoliberalism and whatnot…

Thing is, the concern about RedNote is completely valid. Even if you strip away any overarching US propaganda or whatever, we know that the CCP does really, really shitty things as well and take heavy, manipulative influence (yes yes, the US and its defacto Feudal Lords owning Meta etc. do so too).

I'm just angry people won't take their time to look into this whole topic and go with more propaganda-resistant, federated alternatives. Not perfect, but better than a centralized service that can be influenced by either China or the US. Or Russia… or literally anyone. So that we can, in the end, just dance to some nice human music.

Looks like Mufasa though.

for me it's 2 consecutive "nights" of 17 hours. That way I'll get about 3 to 4 hours of actual quality awakeness. Doesn't work always though, sometimes I can't fall asleep enough.

Anything below that is always crap, no matter what.

That's not on the people though, but the system. What has been said in this thread - that US citizens ain't as bad as they're being thought of - can be applied to literally anyone, anywhere. Having a background of abuse and having learned of the botched Stanford Prison nonsense as well as the Tongan Castaways, I came to believe that we are indeed inherently good as long as we're properly cared for, i.e. no existential fears or neglect. It's hard not to immediately point out awful shit being done, but once you look into the people conducting it you can always find either a cause for their individual worldview to be so corrupted or a systemic cause making them believe to act morally correct. That, or the responsibility is put on someone else freeing them from any of it - as can be seen with the Stanford Prison Experiment, where the guards were acting kind and humane until being instructed by the Professor to not be; who held both responsibility and authority, fucking the whole shit up. This was only discovered around 2015. Nobody looked closer back then as the original believe of "human bad, human needs to be controlled" was initially confirmed, something culturally engraved and pushed by books and movies like "Lord of the Flies".

Causing existential fear by putting everything you need behind a paywall - even down to something as fundamental as water in many cases - and enshrining unethical behaviour into law and an economical system created with the expectation of humans being inherently greedy, selfish and only held back by fear… the only reason why a society like that remains stable IS that people ain't inherently bad despite everything. Same for other countries.

Probably one reason why religion is so alluring to many, another US thing that can turn out to become a problem (like right now, christo-fascism is a thing). The desire for good, and to be good in a world that, in a believe of fellow humans being bad and selfish, we keep making worse unnecessarily.

So yeah, we the people of this world are fine. It's the US system that weirds me the fuck out.

damn, you're constructing new bogeymans to punch at an accelerating pace! That increasing efficiency curve gives me some real market liberalism vibes. 📈

/end joke

In case you really don't get it, look at what you answered to initially and then ask yourself how your accusation relates to that. You keep accusing others of things to then throw punches at those accusations (the bogeyman) to immediately force the other person into a defensive position, even if those accusations weren't even on-topic. It's a manipulative communication strategy to one-up your perceived 'opponent' in a discussion right from the start. Sadly this is a very common thing to come from political extremists, causing anyone who's aware of this to be even more wary.

Nobody, absolutely nobody should ever reply to something this toxic as you can only lose. So to reduce the emotional tension you've might caused and show how ridiculous the whole interaction is I'll make fun about you.

This the only honest explanation you'll get from me about this.

Nice bogeyman you got there, really polished. You must have worked hard on it.

[-] Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de -4 points 2 months ago

If that's your argument then I assume the "nazi" accusation is just bs. Lemmygrad and Hexbear were full of extremists.

Same answer as above: https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/25676408/14608182

I can also cite academic papers that apparently prove homeopathy works or, if time doesn't matter, that lobotomy is worth a nobel prize. Doesn't mean they ain't of low quality / biased and pro-shit.

[-] Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 2 months ago

Dude, there were literal happy posts all over the place when Kissinger passed. There are US-critical memes on Lemmy and the Fedi all the time, in addition to those making fun of Russia, China, communism etc. Most people are aware that the US is shit. However they're also aware that the USSR back then and China right now are also huge piles of garbage, politically speaking (country and people sure are nice!).

Has it ever cross your mind that most people ain't pissed because you're anti-US, but because you're pro-shit?
