That's my fav too.
"The Oxygen Catastrophy" is just such a cool name.

  • Also some upstart bacteria just start pumping out poison that kills almost everything (oxygen)
  • Causes the ocean to rust
  • Causes the atmosphere to catch on fire
  • then causes the earth to turn to a snowball

Fuckin metal

Alot Of Things has mixed feelings about this

IMO I think that's more a reflection of business decisions rather than innate programmer skill.

Programmers used to do that because they had to do that, so the businesses valued it. Now they don't have to do that, so businesses don't allow them room to develop those skills.

I think that rate that people actually developed unnecessary skills outside of work likely remains the same, just the skills that people desire are different to the ones from back then.

I was originally trying for something like this, themed after the "one can only tell the truth and the other only lie" puzzle:

But that led me to this other gem, that I had to share:

Which eventually lead me to try to make Popeye cosplaying as sailor moon, but I discovered that Bing doesn't know what Popeye looks like

I recently started using a + in my email address to make use-specific aliases, so I can more easily filter content from them or see if they're leaking my email.

I signed up for a rewards program in person the other day and the strange look I got:

Do you have an account with us?

Idk

I can look up your email

Ok, it's foo@bar.com

I don't see it, would you like to make an account?

Yes, but instead of that email, make it foo+yourcompany@bar.com

Uhhhhh.... Ok....

Like "you don't have an account but you have an email specifically for our business? Sus AF"

Sure. But buying and storing fresh fruit just to juice occasionally seems... Bougie AF. Like meal planning 🤣
