They chose to Occupy the lands. They got punished for it. Don't try to say that Israeli "Civilians" don't have a role in this ethnic cleansing. Most of them are Dual Nationals and ran away from their "God Given Land" at the first moment. You don't cry about these atrocities when the indigenous people are the ones targetted first.

Rightful Punishment to armed foreign settlers, not a pogrom. The Pogrom is what the Zionist Entity has been doing since the past 7 decades.

Yes, it was the Tufan Al-Aqsa, nothing else.

If you don’t like hate speech and bigotry, don't support the genocidal Zionist Entity.

I can attest that when it comes to complete migration, bridging is not a solution or at least not a good one. The only way is full adoption.

In my experience, bridging chats moves only a minute fraction of the userbase in the end. The network pull that a userbase migration would make w/o a bridge is highly reduced w/ a bridge and leads to inconvenience for all.

Considering 95% of communication has been text based in my experience, those who were convinced to move to, say, Matrix, moved to matrix but were still able to talk with users who weren't that convinced to move and stayed on Discord. This formed the middle ground to satisfy both sides but this barely did anything in terms of creating a secure line of communication and virtually stopped the transition and also reversed it because of the few inconveniences caused, primarily the inability to join VC sessions across and making DMs across. And of course as you said, sharing links is too much hassle compared to just a click. (Although this is not the case w/ Matrix as its main clients have in-house VC functionality.)

And yes, I agree that it is certainly difficult to move users as some platforms become too tied up with our lives that if you try to leave any of these sites anyway, you get the risk of isolation. I managed to balance it out to an extent so I have not faced such a situation but I certainly got more time to focus on work and other stuff.

At the end of the day it's still a long road till a more libre internet will be mainstream. At least by making small contributions we can still keep the idea alive.

I can understand that «super expensive» will have a different meaning for different regions but for me it is the case.

I am using the Thunder Client on Android with some optimizations. But its resource usage is not comparable to Discord at all.

Regardless, Libre platforms like Lemmy and Matrix allow me to use different clients if one is too heavy for me. This is not the case with Discord.

Vague question. I will assume you log into and use the official Element web-client instance (https://element.io/). It is safe to say it logs IP Addresses for whatever amount of time similar to any other website on Earth that you connect to which is fundamentally obvious.

To mitigate this, as in to not make Element log your IP address, you have several options:

  • Use a non-web client (desktop, mobile). (Only your instance server can log your IP)
  • Use a a self hosted instance of the Element Web-Client. (The server self hosting it can log your IP)
  • Self host your own web client and use it. (Only your instance server can log your IP)
  • Use a different Web Client. (That server can also log your IP)

The rest depends on how the server you connect to, handles IP address logs. Some servers may retain it forever, some may remove it in a few days or weeks. Check up on your server's rules & regulations (incl. Privacy Policies) or contact your server administrator.

Artix Linux (w/ Runit) & Void Linux. Interestingly although I started using Linux from Jan 2022, I have used these 2 distros 95% of that time. The rest 5% being Endeavour OS on which I started my journey into Linux.

Due to older hardware and my natural curiousity to learn more about the System. I switched to Artix very early into Linux. The Runit Init system and the fact I chose a base iso (i.e. everything in the system apart from the Core was hand picked and configured by me) made my PC very fast and flexible. I found it quite inconvenient to work and learn w/ and in EndeavourOS. Artix provided me that canvas and it helped me a lot. One possible future con might be that I find it a bit more effort to troubleshoot more popular Distros, in case I need to, because I rarely use non-tui or non-cli programs and I have never worked on Systemd. Fortunately there are always the Arch Wiki or the Program Manuals.

I switched to Void Linux from Artix because Artx, being Arch-Based was a bit unstable whereas Void is a stable-rolling release, sort of like a middle ground between Debian and Arch and so it fits my dynamic. Otherwise it is as good as Artix in other cases.

I personally prefer ViMusic or just downloading my music. Spotify also censors a lot of songs.

I have tried a wide number of Firefox Forks, some niche ones as well. I generally do not prefer non-ESR releases or Forks because of the added Fingerprinting Risks. But all of them had the same issue so I concluded that there was some incompatibility with my Hardware (which is quite old now) and the Gecko Engine.

Greetings from an Ex-Hindu Atheist. I was never really into Religious Banter that much even as a small kid. But I would say the major propelling force that made me become an Atheist would be my curiosity and eagerness to study science. Science answered all those questions Religion could not and my treatment by my super religious parents helped me not to retain any religious superstitions. Their berating only gave me more strength to continue my study of science and legitimized my standings.
