I've never had much luck with casting. I'd also need the subtitles to sync properly too. I usually have to turn them off. Would you cast from phone then - to what - a chromecast?
Just tried it - it was fast, but it just copied the mkv file as is. Don't these need some conversion work on them first so they play as a movie ?
Thanks for the idea of a cheap android box - sounds plausible. Any good ones that spring to mind?
Thanks for the link - I'll definitely look into it.

Yeah it works well, it just reminds me too much of reddit is all.
On the 2nd para - IRCHighway, you mentioned a link to set it up. I don't see one - maybe me but can you either: send the link so I see it or dm if you have time? It sounds like something I'd like to follow up on.
I'm guessing that would be tagging people then rather than topics of interest? Probably not missing much if that's the case.
Also, fuck anyone that looks like you!
That's a good explanation and confuses my thinking of how I wanted this to work ie: download some media, play it to tv, keep data allowance in check. So I downloaded a 100mb clip, started and after a couple of freezes find I've downed 300mb - so basically it's ignoring my local copy and going off to get it again - and again - grrr!
I'll check your recommendation out and see how it does the job - thanks for the info.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'll check out the website and maybe just wait until the app populates them again. Thanks again.
I never thought to check what the dvd player supports - duh! I'll do that next. Thanks for the info on the boxes.
