I've had some trouble with NextCloud as well. For me it just feels sluggish and bloated.
Someone in another thread here said "NextCloud can do everything, but it doesn't do anything particularly well" and that seems to mirror my experience with it for the most part.
Of all the self-hosted containers I've set up NextCloud gave me the most trouble
PassKeys work on Linux.. you just need to use a compatible browser which is most these days.
It's also a fido standard so it isn't really a Google thing, Apple started using them before Google even.
I changed my alarm sound to the Sonic running out of time sound and that gets me up every time in a panic

If it’s all about pumping up Lightning, why did the iPad leave it?
Because Lightning is too slow and low-power for the functionality they felt necessary for the iPad.
You can't do real video output over USB2.0, charging current is limited, and you can't effectively use it for data and charging at the same time outside of limited configurations.
Your mistake is overlooking the fact that Lightning is woefully outdated.
iPhones have been able to get away with it this long by doing most everything wirelessly and convincing users like you that it's somehow better to have a slower, less powerful connector on their phone.
They couldn't get away with the same limitations on a tablet.
Now Mr Leverpuller receives a basic income from the state and is free to pursue a career or hobby in a field they enjoy without worrying about how they will survive paycheck to paycheck
