I can go either way, however I do prefer self-serve if I am in a hurry and only have a few things. That said, the sluggishness of the Woolworths ones, and the Twenty Questions whenever I try to use them (and the inference from them that I am a thief) means that I will go to the service desk instead.

The friendliness of other Aldi customers is also refreshing. I have had other customers wave me through because i only have a couple of things; I usually buy a few Chupa Chups when I am checking out for those other customers, as a thankyou.

Safeway and Coles customers are typically more self-absorbed and militant about the queue.

We had a local IGA open in our estate recently. There are some things that are more expensive than Colesworth, but only by a small margin.

The same when a Foodworks opened where we used to live.

Being able to stroll to the supermarket is a nice luxury; it is quicker to walk to IGA than to drive to the nearest Coles or Woolworths.

That is the thing. They will bite if the feel scared, so it you are competent, relaxed and crazy enough, you may be able to handle one like this. They also have a little beak.

The Venn diagram of venomous and dangerous is not a plain circle.

The more electronics in a product, the easier it is to build in Engineered Obsolescence.

One good thing about traditional ICE engines is that they were relatively simple. If something stops working, it can be bypassed.

Modern ICE and EVs use CANBus and FSB/DAS, which means that the manufacturer has infinitely more control over the vehicle than a vehicle with disparate components that are individually powered and controlled.

This is more of an “old vehicle vs new vehicle” argument, and as EVs mature, the aftermarket replacement parts (such as the OpenInverter project) will be more accessible.

The Automotive industry is seeing the EV boom as an opportunity to fight Right To Repair with the argument that a giant Lithium bomb under each vehicle is too dangerous for lay-mechanics to work on.

This is terrible.

Aluminium cans should have gone in the recycling! ♻️

This is ridiculous.

  • their algorithms are crap and keep ramming right-wing bullshit down my throat
  • they keep trying to get me to play YouTube games
  • they list YouTube Shorts multiple times in the Home Screen and most of the time it is just over-sexualised jailbait.
  • using anonymous Google to find a video on YouTube is more effective than using YouTube search

I am seriously thinking of getting an Apple Vision Pro just so I can use Juno and bypass all the bullshit.

Time I planned an exit strategy.

Considering that Ethnic Palestinians are the original Semites, and most of the Zionist are “repatriated” jewish people from all around the world, I find it ironic that they claim any sleight against them to be antisemitic.

The movers were right that they should “slap whoever told” them “that BS”. They were giving them some great advice.

Years ago, after a family camping trip, we stopped at a café for Lunch on our way home. My father, my Brother and I all saw Sticky Date Pudding on the menu and decided to order it as desert.

It was the most amazing Sticky Date Pudding we had ever had, it was the right balance of moist and dry, the caramel sauce was just the right balance of sweet, salt and tart without being decadent and the date was just the right consistency, not rubbery but with just the right consistency.

We asked the waiter about it and they told the chef. The chef came out to give us the recipe and pulled out a Tinned Pudding. All he had done was cracked the tin, poured it out and put a scoop of vanilla gelato on the side.

Let us analyse it critically;

  • change of API policies resulted in death of third-party apps.
  • exodus of content creators due to inaccessibility of official Apps and user interfaces.
  • exodus of high-value users due to lack of high-value content.
  • exodus of medium-value users due to increase is low-value content and ads.
  • increase in toxic behaviour due to lack of moderation and encouragement of antisocial behaviour.
  • fediverse (and Reddit) attracting content creators and users with better (more insular) communities and content.
  • loss of brand equity with bizarre name change.

I’m honesty surprised that it only tanked by 56%.

Also, pay attention, u/spez!

“I wouldn’t use the piece-of-shit first-party App, even if you paid me!”

What if we pay you?
