It's also enabled everyone to see cultures and ways of life they would never be able to before. People can share their differences and traditions more openly too. Knowing more about cultures, practices and different people is what opens doors to not being racist

Racism isn't an implicit call to violence. Violence is one of the ways it can manifest if it's deranged enough, but most racism is just sorta quiet and often unconscious.

It's not a good idea for the government tell you what you're allowed to say - that change has to come naturally from the bottom up, not artificially from the top down

What do you mean specifically when you say you want to explore yourself more? What would that entail?

Id be surprised if all admins of every instance that's federated with Lemmy are all on the same page, let alone looking for narrative driven bots.

I see "Ukrainian combat footage" with hundreds of upvotes and no comments, there was also an article speaking positively about facebook that had lots of upvotes and no comments (it's in my history of you look, because I commented lol) - those look like red flags to me

Social status. The main reason for wanting to stand out (other than your own ego) is because having a higher social status will offer the individual more opportunities in these social games we play.

Perception matters more than the truth for most

https://vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/douglas-todd-canadians-adopting-assisted-death-22-times-more-than-americans

"In Canada, which has a smaller population than California, physicians or nurse practitioners directly ended the lives of 31,664 people between 2016 and 2021. That compares to just 3,344 in California."

This is an opinion piece article and I'm not sure where they're pulling numbers (I only had time to skim through it)

But if true, let's add a loose and relatively subjective term like "addiction" to the legislation and these numbers will go up.

Maybe this is how the government was planning to tackle the housing problem lol

Yeah, it's fucked up. It's being presented under the guise of equality too lol
