Fantastic to hear, thank you!

And yet? I want everybody to shut up about it because we have far more pressing issues at hand. When it comes to women’s sports the public has made up their mind and the facts don’t matter.

So do I, which is why I reported those comments to be removed, but then realised that the only mod in the community agrees, and so they wouldn't only not be removed, but more of them would be encouraged, which I think is unacceptable, especially if the instance hosting them has rules against bigotry, which is what this is.

Undercurrent?!

This is a prime example of how the MSM serves and normalises fascism for its owners benefit.

The number of defensive whining from libs in the replies to the OP beg to differ lol, they clearly very much do give a shit. So you keep slapping them in the face with reality until they can't hide from it anymore, and they have to make a choice, pick a side, and be comfortable with their own decision, and the consequences it brings (including *shock horror*, being called what they choose to be - right wingers and fascism enablers, meanwhile the rest of us have the consequences of said fascism to face).

Leftists coddling liberal feeling is just as productive (E: to progress) as liberals coddling fascist feelings, that is to say - it isn't, at all. We're long past the point of prioritising privileged feelings over marginalised lives.

So I'm glad he was compensated, but I struggle to take his stance seriously when he works for a neoliberal think tank and genuinely believes his personal travel arrangements make any difference whatsoever when someone like him should definitely be aware that billionaires emit more carbon pollution in 90 minutes than the average person does in a lifetime (spare me the "every little help" platitude, at the scales we're discussing here, this person's itinerary makes zero difference, and only serves to alleviate his personal guilt. The only difference we can make as individuals is to unite and tear down the systems that are actually destroying the planet, and the people responsible).

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, and I like your design (though agree it could be a little easier to read) but feel like this is playing in to the "he's not a nazi" narrative his supporters are trying to push, when he is in fact, a nazi, as well as a regime enabling industrialist. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and we should be calling the nazi spade a nazi spade at every opportunity.

  3. Warner continues "I thought you were supposed to be tolerant of all beliefs!"

  4. Elle looks confused "Why would we tolerate bigotry, inequity, or oppression?"

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for composting elon, but that alone won't change much.

Never forget - we are many, they are few, there is enough composting to go around, but more importantly, we need to already be creating the foundations for an alternative, better, society, so that when we abolish the systems that currently govern ours, we have a solid and equitable framework to fall back on and build from.

I grew up with one of the 9000 who survived those death marches, being a kind of foster-gran to me (some of my biological, and step, grandparents survived their own ordeals, but not in Auschwitz. Either way, it is not a surprise that none of them were really up for the job of being loving cuddly grandparents, or raising loving cuddly parents to be, and needed to share the task with others).

She was only 12 at the time, and watched her mother, who she was separated from when they arrived at the camp and never expected to see again, die on the side of a snowy road. She herself only survived that long because the Nazis found her attractive enough to keep around and abuse.

Actually visiting the place made me physically ill, and it still pops up in my nightmares.

On a less personal note, there are of course a lot of worthwhile and important documentaries to watch about the holocaust and Auschwitz in particular, do, but if you only watch one, I think The US and the Holocaust is the most relevant to our times that I have seen in a very very long time, and if it were up to me it would be compulsory viewing for everyone as soon as they are old enough to understand.

Another that comes to mind is Night Will Fall which contains footage from the much harder to find German Concentration Camps Factual Survey that was made during and immediately after liberation, but kept hidden away for decades. (E: if you're in the UK and want to watch it, I've just seen that Night Will Fall is on tonight at midnight on ch4)

Those who refuse to learn from history are deemed to repeat it, which is precisely why we're all only taught a whitewashed version of it.

Video transcript:

This is for the 45 lies campaign.

The title of this piece is 1 through 45 have lied, 46 through 100 will be no different. And it is in conversation with the piece "I want a dyke for president" by Zoe Leonard.

Oh silly humans, how quickly we forget.

We who were once ruled by thrones and those who told us they were born to sit upon them.

We the descendants of those who overthrew dynasties and decapitated dictators.

Who are we, in this moment, to not remember how much we've already overcome.

How dare we dream so small.

No, I don't want another four years of Trump.

I don't want any republican for president.

But I don't want a democrat either.

No democrats, no dykes, no people who've been unemployed.

I don't want a black woman in office.

Not Oprah, Ava or even Michelle.

No immigrants in the oval.

I don't care how many or which drugs they've done, I don't want a president at all.

After all, what is a president but a small king?

An emperor whose new clothes I cannot see.

An agreement we made collectively that we can unmake just as easily.

I pledge no allegiance to America because white men defiled it with borders and called the result a country.

I do not confuse dying to vote with dying for freedom even though they meant the same thing at one time in history.

I will not beg for a seat at a table whose legs are bent backs and we dine only on scarcity.

I want us to dare to dream beyond the dictates of this dystopia.

To say that the ending that so many feared was coming came long ago and we have simply been living in it's shadow.

I want us to admit more than this being a failure from the start.

To say America never was great and never can be.

That sometimes, sometimes the rot is so deep in the root that a pruning does not breed possibility.

That the only hope for a harvest lies in the fields being re-sown entirely.

And I wanna know why this isn't possible.

I wanna know why we started learning somewhere down the line that a president is always needed, that a country is always needed, that the police are always needed, that any of this has ever been and will always be needed.

And I wanna know how after slavery, genocide, colonialism and all of the ways that they've renamed the taking, how in the world that they convinced us that they knew how to run one better than we did, or do.

And I know it's sometimes hard to imagine that all of us can truly get free, but I need you to believe that we already are.

I need you to believe that we always have been, no matter the master or the monarch, but only if we dare to dream beyond what we can see, only if we understood that re-skinning or re-gendering the beast would never change a rumbling in it's belly.

See sometimes, sometimes I daydream I will live to see a day that a child is born so free that they will hear this poem and wonder what the hell a president even is.

And I believe that we can do it.

And I accept that we will be ourselves in the doing.

I accept that there will be disagreement, that we will conflict as we unravel our imposed inhumanity, as we realize that we have less to learn than to unlearn as we remember our collective body.

And I wanna know why this isn't possible.

I wanna know why we started learning somewhere down the line that a president is always needed, that a country is always needed, that the police are always needed, that any of this has ever been and will always be needed.

And I wanna know how we were asked to write to one lie, from one president in one poem, as if the sum of this country's presidencies have been anything but an untruth.

45 lies, yes, but so did 44 and so will 46, and so will our writing if we do not speak to the entirety of this.

Oh silly writers, how quickly we forget.

We who were once ruled by thrones and those that told us they were born to sit upon them.

We the descendants of those who overthrew dynasties and decapitated dictators.

Who are we, in this moment, to not remember how much we've already overcome.

How dare we write so small.
