My guess is they're not self destructing. They're pissing off parts of the user base to profit more from the rest of the user base. I'd guess it's all calculated and profitable. Except whatever twitter is doing that's just a mess

Their goal wasn't to win you over. It was to create a loyal user base of ad consumers and they succeeded at that

I also succeeded at finding a platform to consume content that isn't ad riddled. Yet.

The mobile market has plenty of competition.

Fucking lol dude. I'm no economist but there's no shot the mobile phone marketplace counts as "plenty of competition". It's essentially a duopoly. And the barrier to entry is massive.
