Wordpress even has activitypub integration now! Hooray! Here's hoping automattic do good on their word and bring it to their other projects like Tumblr

Also as much as I like gimp, it is unfortunately not that widely used due to super specialised and hard to use compared to the industry standard juggernaut that is adobe's creative suite. You're probably going to get laughed at in any professional industry if you suggest seriously using it.

So's Norway - quite a few places on the west coast (the most inhabited non-Oslo part of the country) rely on the fact that the gulf stream keeps them unusually warm for their latitude

I'm already seeing things that would normally grow fine out in the garden suffer from abnormally late and early frosts and mild summers. Rip my tomatos and onions. Everyone's complaining about 20+ degree springs in the mainland while I'm screaming that it's still snowing in late May.

A cheap fountain pen like a Lamy safari. Maybe some brightly coloured ink too.

Growing up I loved pens and my dad had some vintage Watermans he used all the time which were unquestionably Cool Pens but also really "fancy" so I wasn't allowed to touch them, and we just didn't know that way cheaper and less fiddly fountain pens existed because all of his came from the op shop with ink from borders and not an actual pen store. 8 year old me would've been estatic that not only do easier to use cheaper options exist, they're bright yellow and also you can put any colour in them, not just boring black.

...I feel like everyone answering "Powerball numbers" or "apple stocks" is completely missing the spirit of the question

This doesn't sound like they're charging extra if you're over a certain weight, which is what a lot of people here seem to be assuming. Its data collection for future designs.

People are aware that you get charged for overweight baggage for health and safety reasons, right? Anything over about 20 kilos is too heavy for a single person to safely handle so they have to get two people to do it, which costs more time and money. I would be very genuinely surprised if a few dozen more kilos from overweight baggage and people would be enough to seriously impact a plane's flight unless you're on a small town hopper

pie crust

...you mean put cold butter, flour, ice water, and a little seasoning in a food processor and blitz until crumbly? Or are you talking about making puff pastry from scratch?

I've had a 3d printer for years and I still can't really get over how nuts it is. Like it feels like one of those things you'd read about in science magazines as this amazing super scientific thing the scientists out in MIT have in their labs like a supercomputer or some expensive toy people who build stuff on YouTube have in their garage next to the lathe and big fancy CNC table, but no, it's just, here. On my desk. Being used to casually print stuff that I've designed myself on the computer like it's nothing.

My great grandad was a carpenter and I wish I could've shown him it. I wonder what he'd think, seeing something that was once only in the realm of handcrafted diagrammes and days of building now a few hours of modelling and printing away.

Also in art apps, because it's not uncommon to want to undo and redo the same action over and over to see the difference something makes

...except gimp and krita. Seriously get your damn act together youse two

Are you trying to connect up to a computer? Look up "USB tethering" in your settings - you should be able to plug your phone into your computer through a USB port and share its data connection no problem. If you're only using one device, it's actually better than a mobile hotspot. You can also do it over Bluetooth if for some reason you want lower bandwidth. YMMV as I'm across the pond, but I get stats from my telecom company about my usage and it doesn't list anything USB tethered as hotspot related so I think it should go under your company's radar.

But also like, what the absolute fuck man? How? Why?

I find the best way is to establish where the main thoroughfare is, and also the old part of town. That's usually where there's shops and nice places to wander about window shopping and looking for food options. Bigger cities often have multiple versions of these things so you might need to walk around a few to get a sense of which ones are touristy and which ones are something else.

Once you sort of have your bearings, think about what this place is famous for in the sense of "when have you heard about this place in an everyday context?". Was there a famous guy who did stuff here? Did something big happen during the industrial revolution? What was the war situation like? If there's any big notable things that spring to mind, chances are there's a museum or monument or thing about it. And obviously what springs to mind is going to be different for different people. You might instantly go to some botanist who worked for the national gardens while I might think of some architect who designed a bunch of metro stations, while someone else thinks of that really well preserved tank they have. Don't go "I have to go to these places because they're famous", go "oh that's where that I thing I know is!"

Alternatively, super niche but if you still use Pokemon go/Ingress, open it up and see where portals are scattered. Generally speaking if there's a lot of portals in one area, there's something interesting there. Also idk about Pokemon go but ingress has a 'missions' mode where people make little pseudo-orientering maps where you have to run about looking for a specific location, and they're often themed.

Eh even on farms they're not the most effective

Sure cats sometimes catch mice, but you know what else also catches mice and is actually native to wherever your area is? Owls.. Owls that are being chased off by said cat.

Let your local raptors do their job people.

I see your blackwings and I raise you my mechanical contestant - the uniball kuru toga. The rotating lead gimmick actually works pretty well and the elite has just such a nice weight to it because the barrel is this nice knurled metal thing (I think the advance upgrade is also metal, but I don't have that one to compare)

Speaking of uniball, while I'm normally a fountain pen adherent, my go to non-fountain pen is the uniball eye. Such a surprisingly nice pen for the price, and while it's not exactly the same, because it's a liquid ink roller ball it's still much nicer to write with because you don't have to apply pressure to make it write.

Seconding Uniqlo - it's also got the bonus of being sort of "effortlessly fashionable" (especially if you're a woman) which is great if you're the sort of person who gets super anxious over social interactions but at the same time have no sense of what looks good.
