I'm not an expert but ...

  • I think Fedora and OpenSUSE are the best (with Fedora leading). Well-funded and they take security seriously.
  • Arch and Bazzite are filling specific niches.
  • ReactOS and NixOS I think are in beta, but I'm not paying much attention to either.
  • In terms of desktop environments I think KDE Plasma leads the pack. MATE is strong on accessibility though.

Unfortunately I'd need to be an American citizen to be president of the United States.

If anything it's a multi-track drift.

Is Spotify EU? They're headquartered in Sweden, but they're listed on the New York Stock Exchange, but their largest shareholders are Swedish and British.

Also, Soundcloud probably warrants more information. In no universe would it be someone's primary option but if someone's looking for a specific song that's not in the (limited) Qobuz library then it's a decent fallback.

I really wish Qobuz would let me bookmark individual songs in my browser. That's the real sticking point for me (I use it).

If something's not on Qobuz I can just listen on Soundcloud.

It's a complicated issue to solve, and I'm not the person to solve it but the Russian state's approach has basically been in every single way wrong.

The Russian ethnic minority and it's treatment is a domestic issue. It is not a suitable pretext for Russia to invade a country, bomb schools and hospitals, and force Ukrainians into either a smaller portion of their country or to live under an ethnostate that does not represent them. Putin has naked imperial ambitions not just in Ukraine but also in Georgia.

I'm now gonna block you, as I do everyone with pro-Russia views. Because anyone that can excuse Russia's actions is not worthy of my attention.

Australia's got a law, and I'm dreading the day I need to give Google more information in order to keep using YouTube. Certain YouTube channels are really important to me.

What about Google Play?

[-] Tenderizer78@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago

I considered switching from Proton to Fastmail, because Proton seems to run slow in Australia. Immediately stopped considering once I realized they delete your account if you don't pay for 6 months (and by extension, you'll lose all your connected accounts).

So if you're homeless, arrested, deported, or in a coma and come out of it you'll end up losing your entire digital life.

I did not know that and don't know enough to respond. I'll leave this conversation to the other guy who actually knows what he's talking about.

No, we don't have free will. HOWEVER, I don't think that arguement will hold up in court.

Car ownership, I guess.
