I'll accept that, only as long as Americans learn that route is pronounced "root", not "rout".

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. It's the diversity that make social platforms interesting, even if some of it isn't interesting for me.

That's why we can choose which communities we join on the Fediverse.

Some friends of mine saw them carry a dead rat out the back room and throw it out onto the street while they were waiting for me there.

Yeah, it's still there, but I've not been in for ten years.

I get that now, I thought you were just being snarky the first time I read it!

I think Apple users typically fall into one of a few different categories:

  1. "I'm a creative/visionary"
  2. "I don't really understand computers"
  3. "I need a native Unix command line"

Yes, I've read the Wikipedia article. That sentence is a little misleading, as the original study was arguably about both.

The initial study by David Dunning and Justin Kruger examined the performance and self-assessment of undergraduate students in the fields of inductive, deductive, and abductive logical reasoning, English grammar, and appreciation of humor.

Edit: ...with the reasoning tests being a crude proxy for intelligence.

Note that I was careful not to mention intelligence in my original post either.

The description is almost as impressive as the photo.

Not yet, but it looks nice. After replacing the foam cups on my headset I think I still have a year or two left in these.

I'd be happy to evaluate them if Poly sent me a sample, though!

Not really, but are you using your computer's Bluetooth or the provided dongle, and do you have any apps keeping your mic open? If you use standard Bluetooth on Windows it sometimes gets stuck in duplex mode (the mode for conversations rather than consuming content), and music sounds awful.

They're good enough for music, but they're more optimised for online meetings. You're not going to get a hi-fi experience from them.

I don't know whether they will help with your issues, but for me they're much more comfortable and the better seal they provide means I get better sound quality.

Galaxy Buds Pro on my commute, Plantronics Voyager 8200 when I'm at my desk (or travelling on the plane).

For TV/games I've got a 5.1 sound system, but I will often just chill on my bed watching things from my laptop or playing on my Steam Deck with the built-in speakers.
