What's your plan when Trump wins this time? Why won't that plan still work in 4 years if another Trump does surface? Unless you don't have a plan and just want to rip the band aid off to get it over with. I don't like how the DNC operates and we need to work to change it but if Trump gets elected with no plan in place to control him he will just wipe Gaza off the map and build a golf course where it used to be.

I think some people have a flawed belief that one side is always correct. The Dem party is clearly handling isreal badly so to them the Republicans must be the good side.

This is my opinion exactly. Plus they don't have a way to upgrade storage without a family or business plan. I just want a google drive alternative for the sake of migrating away from google, not security, though it's a nice bonus. Right now you can't increase the storage on the basic plan, you can upgrade to unlimited but it only gets you 500 gb but costs a lot more. If they had a $5/month plan for 2 tb of storage and no other services I'd sign up right now.

I'm just making fun of him for constantly promising features that don't exist, then saying they'll come in a future update when it ships without them. À la the full self driving demo in 2016 that turned out to be fake.

So do you see this as punishment for liberals? Because it will not punish the people you want it to.

People have been making paper templates for a long time, I can't see how plastic would have any real advantage. A plastic guide isn't going to constrain a metal cutting tool, at best it just shows you where you need to drill the same as a paper template. If you wander outside the lines you'll just mess up both the part and the jig.

If I were to set up a clandestine gun manufacurer I would try and design a product that could be made using mostly aluminum extrutions and paper jigs. That way it's easy to compartmentalize each step, harder for one guy to flip on you, and fast/cheap. Plus if you get raided you don't have a bunch of incriminating files cached on your CNC machine from previous runs.

Welding a casting is a lot more dubious even if you can access it easily. If the original material was welded together chances are it can be rewelded without much issue. Most successfull welds in cast material I've seen have been in compression, it tends to split around the weld when you put it under tension.

Lol the hammer attack would have been a great exit strategy. Oh well would you look at that, ever since my husband got his head beat in with a hammer he just can't seem to pick stocks as well.

I find Lemmy has plenty of content for my level of use but I didn't browse tons of communities back on reddit so my feed was fairly stagnant. I like being able to see peoples opinions and conversations about things going on in the world. I can find news topics elsewhere but no where else but reddit and now lemmy really had any worthwhile discourse about them. I don't mind the same topics showing up in my feed as long as there are new comments that I haven't read. Reddit was getting pretty hard to use for this though honestly, if there were any serious replies they were way down below the jokes and rage bait comments most of the time.

Yup, real solutions usually aren't sexy and don't make good sound bites. Lot's of people are unhappy with life and the idea of being able to fix it themselves with direct action is a very appealing concept. Telling someone their problems are causes by a complex mixture of cultural factors and government policy doesn't give people the instant gratification of hearing that it's the "others" fault.

A guy in a lambo yelling about how women and jews are the real issue is always going to get more attention than a well constructed and reasonable argument on economic policy.

I originally heard this idea about why so many big start ups end with massive fraud but I think it applies here too. The start ups that create reasonable goals and timelines don't get funding because someone else is willing to lie and promise more. By the time it's clear they can't deliver on the promised results, the honest company is out of business. Same in politics, one side is honest, the other side is willing to say whatever they think will win you over no matter if it's true. Obviously one will be more appealing because it's designed to be, but that doesn't mean it has any merit.

It's weird to not distrust Meta, if you can't see that idk what to tell you. In 70 years when a company is using detailed data collected about you since you were 13 to market nostalgia it'll be too late. Even if laws get implemented in the interum between now and then banning data harvesting, whatever data is collected today will still be on the market and you'll be an even juicier target.
