Yeah I think they would have had to slow down or stop sales and make a big deal about reworking their production lines for better QC. Then come back a year or two later with actual improvements. I think Tesla probably have enough brand recognition that they can survive without Musk so hopefully they kick him out.

I think the US car industry as a whole is due for a major price adjustment, so I kind of see that as it's own issue. Car prices need to be cut at least in half to make them practical as utility items. We're being asked to drive vehicles that costs as much as a house did 30 years ago, and are approaching the same size, on the highway and leave them parked inches from each other.

The IMEI number on the phone is essentially locked to the device, swapping sims won't change it. So a phone activated under your real name on one network could technically get traced back to you even when using a different SIM card.

Also, carrying a phone with both SIMs active is completely unprotected from correlation attacks by anyone with access to the cell tower data. It'd be blatantly obvious that the location of one SIM is the same as the other all the time.

All depends on the threat level you expect, but if you're worried about a VOIP account being compromised to get your real number, you are talking about pretty sophisticated actors.

My exeperience is lot of people just want an ipad they can type on. The m2 air is basically the same size and weight as an ipad pro, and the screen is more protected if you carry it in a backpack. It's also probably cheaper, especially if you want any of the accessories that make it "pro" ipad.

Lol the hammer attack would have been a great exit strategy. Oh well would you look at that, ever since my husband got his head beat in with a hammer he just can't seem to pick stocks as well.

Have you never seen a cardboard carton of juice or milk?

This is really only applicable to buying new things on ebay. Last gen electronics are the only thing I buy new on ebay but even then good deals are pretty rare. At this point if you want a good deal you need to go back 2 generations usually. I saved around $800 on my macbook pro by buying a 2021 model NIB on ebay a few months ago. Asahi linux only runs on m1 anyway so that was my prefered processor over m2/3 anyway.

At least with apple, the warranty only starts when the product is activated, so as long as the original plastic wrap is still on it you will get the full factory warranty.

Your lungs can compress to equalize the pressure as you go deeper and expand as you come back up. As long as you start with ambient pressure air in your lungs you won't have issues.

The problem is breathing against the external pressure, you need gas pressure to help expand your lungs again after you exhale. The regulator keeps the air pressure equal to the external water pressure so breathing feels the same no matter how deep you go. With an open loop system you use air faster with depth because each breath is higher pressure and gets wasted when you exhale.

I find Lemmy has plenty of content for my level of use but I didn't browse tons of communities back on reddit so my feed was fairly stagnant. I like being able to see peoples opinions and conversations about things going on in the world. I can find news topics elsewhere but no where else but reddit and now lemmy really had any worthwhile discourse about them. I don't mind the same topics showing up in my feed as long as there are new comments that I haven't read. Reddit was getting pretty hard to use for this though honestly, if there were any serious replies they were way down below the jokes and rage bait comments most of the time.

Most of the large manufacturers make at least one. The less expensive ones tend to just be gas cars with electric motors swapped in. Cars that were designed to be electric generally have less compromise and more refinement. If I got an electric car today it would be an egolf, the range isn't the best but that's the only downside I've really seen.

It's weird to not distrust Meta, if you can't see that idk what to tell you. In 70 years when a company is using detailed data collected about you since you were 13 to market nostalgia it'll be too late. Even if laws get implemented in the interum between now and then banning data harvesting, whatever data is collected today will still be on the market and you'll be an even juicier target.
