The other thing is just how much I hate Windows Update. I can tolerate most parts of Windows, but WU is objectively terrible. It's incredibly slow, requires multiple restarts (sometimes forced!) amd sometimes fails with random errors that are impossible to troubleshoot.

It goes without saying that most Linux package managers work incredibly well in comparison.

No, it's not at all the same company, despite using the same Philips brand. Philips split up into several separate companies. The healthcare division is the only thing left of the original Philips company.

Yes I agree Surfshark has done some weird things. I find it weird that it's actually the same company now as NordVPN, but they don't make it clear.

Regarding performance, Surfshark is decent speed but still slower than not using a VPN. The more annoying thing is that I get a lot more captchas when using Surfshark. I think these issues are common for all VPNs, though I haven't tried Mullvad yet (I will when my Surfshark subscription ends).

I don't care much about upvotes, but about activities. Most posts on Lemmy have little to no comments.

We have a decent and varied user base with plenty of subject matter experts.

Do we?

Back in the 2000s, most memes were just cat pictures. Longcat [is long], ceiling cat [is watching you], keyboard cat, grumpy cat etc.

Also #BrusselsLockdown hashtag was used in 2015 to ease political tension.

Yep this has been my experience too. Maybe it works well in some homes, but I generally can't recommend Powerline.

I just want a SHIELD with AV1 hardware decoding, full-spec HDMI 2.1 (with 4K 120Hz VRR) and HDR10+ support (the 2019 SHIELD models support Dolby Vision and standard HDR10, but not HDR10+). I personally also prefer Android TV over Google TV (due to not forcing a Google account to use).

Despite being a smaller community, I find I've been getting significantly more replies on Lemmy. Maybe it's easier to get noticed.
