I don't think Lemmy is a shit platform. But it does amaze me how many people don't tune it to the content they like. That's one of the great things about Lemmy!

I don't understand why so many people keep going to communites they hate. Block that shit and move on.

He hasn't responded to any of the posts in the thread. Neither has the mod.

Spoiler alert: OP and that mod are the same guy and this is a social experiment in mob-think and he's just mindfucking everybody.

Spoiler spoiler alert: Everyone thinks it's me and the three of us are all the same person doing it.

Spoiler spoiler spoiler alert: OP, the mod, you, and me are me, but I'm also most of the comments in this thread because everyone knows I am every Lemmy. Everyone is my alt!! We're all me! Fuckin' glorious.

(/s in case not obvious)

We need to stop normalizing banning people for how they vote.

Here's the problem though. I’ve been a victim of downvote brigades. It usually starts with someone downvoting every single post in one of my communities. Fine, maybe they don’t like my politics. But then it spreads. They start hitting every community I run, even the non-political ones, and downvote everything I post. Eventually, they downvote every single post I make anywhere, just because it’s me.

Some people genuinely get joy out of doing that. They don’t read the post or care about the content. They just see a name they don’t like and hit downvote.

I’m not making this up. I saw it happen over and over. That’s why banning users based solely on voting behavior became a feature. It was needed.

So I started banning people who only showed up to downvote and never contributed. Once I did that, they stopped bothering those communities. They knew they couldn’t mess with me anymore.

Since then, serial downvoting has dropped across the Fediverse. People figured out they could get banned for it.

It wasn’t about disagreeing with information. It was about targeting people. I’m not saying OP did that, but that’s the pattern I’ve seen.

I personally would like to see votes be eliminated for the entire fediverse so the vote manipulators have no way to try to shape narratives.

This seems off-topic. Not sure why you felt the need to post a user's downvote count when they aren't involved in your OP complaint, and they aren't a mod for the sub you're complaining about. As far as I can tell, they have nothing to do with your original complaint?

Be sure to let everyone know that it's a community called "Conservative" that it was posted to.

The real question is...did you buy it?!

This is the best and easiest way. And when I do my covers for books I write, I make sure they are high-res just so people can do this.

What tricks? Advocating and voting for Socialist causes and Socialist candidates? Because I still do that. Check my post history.

Lemmy is actually starting to warm up to the idea of third parties now, so I was right all along; I was just an early adopter.

This is a World News community, not a politics community. So your scapegoating me and all things Socialist doesn't really matter here and is off-topic. I've posted World News to this World News community.

Hopefully you can post some articles here and help Lemmy content grow as well.

Thanks, friend!

Sure, but the comment (which has since been removed by mod for witch-hunting) bizarrely brought up my name in the conversation. I didn't ban Leni, nor do I have anything to do with Leni.

It was just a bizarre name drop that had nothing to do with the discussion. I'm not involved in any of the dealings in this thread or the OP.

I totally agree. I put off continuing my education for a long time because of costs and demands on my time. Now I have the time, and I was able to lower costs. And downloading free educational books has made this all amazing (and affordable).

You win the internets! lmao

Ahh ok! Thanks for the explanation.

I have no idea why my comment is seen as being "sus" or why my choice of words would trigger anyone.

But meh, Lemmy being Lemmy, I guess.
