I’m not a new Linux user but am a new Linux gamer. I landed on endeavorOS a few months ago and like it enough I converted my other two desktops over. Whether it’s just dumb luck or not it has been noticeably more snappy on all three of the workstations I put it on than anything else I was using. It’s honestly kind of eerie, after putting my work laptop (windows11) away for the day and jumping on one of my systems they are so responsive now that sometimes it feels like it’s predicting what I want to do before I do it.

That person is an idiot without any actual real world experience. Good on you for sharing useful information. I’ve had colleagues and employees like him lose their job before even being hooked up because of their shit attitude and my advice to folks boils down to the same. Be respectful, be transparent, even if embarrassing (there is nothing they haven’t heard before), and just give your “yes”, “no”. Best case you don’t see them again for 3-5 years, worst case it’s inconclusive and they will run it again a couple times and you will be more used to what’s expected. Go in with a shit attitude with your head up your ass and nobody is feeling bad that you pissed away a salary/job security perk and will never think about you again after a weeks time as they press on checking the box and taking care of themselves.

I’ve had the same hp laserjet pro printer, just checked Amazon, since March 2015. It has worked without issue through various windows, iOS, and Linux systems. Using native drivers, cups, and the web interface on my lan. I would argue it is one of the most reliable and dependable devices I’ve owned and has maintained compatibility with anything and everything without requiring anything be done to it other than I’m on my third cartridge that I purchased a pack of 2 of for $26.98 in October of 2021 which still seem to sell for $25… I may just order another pack.

LxTek Compatible Toner Cartridge 83A Replacement for HP 83A CF283A Compatible with Laserjet Pro MFP M125nw M201dw M225dw M201n M125a M127fn M127fw, 2 Black

I don’t understand the persistent whining about printers. If you need color or graphics send them to CVS or some shit to have them printed on a professional quality printer and paper for less than it used to cost to develop a roll of film or print it off at work on a high end laser color printer. I can’t believe people still piss their money away on throw away ink jet printers. I know otherwise seemingly intelligent people that can’t be swayed that they are actually throwing money away because “I got a new printer for less than the ink cost!!!”, yeah dumbass, you are generating e-waste and getting cartridges with barely any ink in them, you didn’t decode the matrix.

Printers are of exceptional quality in my experience.

Edit: I also spent just under two years navigating up the system admin ranks as a printer admin and managed almost 300 laser printers supporting over 3,000 users and I’m fairly certain most issues admins create for themselves, or had a prior admin create for them, because they aren’t willing to really understand how to setup a print server and just make it work asap. Once the server(s) and printers are setup and configured correctly the only maintenance any of those printers required was after well over 100k pages.

I get a lot of leaves. I have a battery powered 60v leaf blower. I blow them away from my foundation so I don’t get a rotting mound around my house. Then I have to blow those away or they won’t biodegrade without leaving giant dirt patches. What I’ve found works well is blowing them into the forest bed at the edge of my property. The deer and other animals seem to help break them down. I don’t have to worry about them until fall but there are just too many to leave lie where they land. I go through three batteries a day over the course of weeks to keep them from building up really bad. I’m not a mow every week manicured lawn kind of person either. Right now most of my back yard is over a foot tall with a mowed area for my small dog.

I also like the leaf blower for cleaning off my gutter guards, drive, lawn mower, garage floor, deck, and even when it’s just a light snow I’ll go out a few times to blow everything off so I don’t have to shovel.

I’m on team tab 100% I guess I was saying if someone felt they had to use spaces then they shouldn’t handicap everyone else because of their choice and an interpreter could normalize their code.

[-] Waraugh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

I don’t understand why this is such a big deal for anyone. With all the UI utilities available it would be incredibly easy to have a setting to interpret 5 consecutive spaces as a tab or a tab as 5 consecutive spaces and just let whoever prefers what to choose how they are going to interface with the code. Hell, you could even make it so 5 is the default and have custom consecutive values as an advanced option in the interpreter for edge cases. So many incredibly more challenging issues have been resolved in IDEs, I just don’t get it.

I take cash out of an atm a few times a year to tip at restaurants and such and just pick $200 because that’s the highest one button click that shows up. $100 seems low to me. I think I got over $100 in my wallet more days of the year than not and I’m not into anything nefarious or even make much money, I just don’t use cash very often but often enough that having it available is handy. Theirs Girl Scouts, fire fighter donations at the grocery, neighborhood sports or band raffles, just random ass things that happen regular enough that having cash throughout the year makes it easier to feel part of the community.

It hasn’t taken over my life. I have a strong foundation, and people who love me whom I love that aren’t bigots. Everything is politics when politics, so that’s a nonsense statement. I appreciate you sharing your concern from behind your veil.

It’s really bad though. Have you ever seen this study?

I like the spherical references. I don’t know why he wouldn’t stick with balls.

A pig would be damn hard to pick up too. Better do it with a young one.

I keep mine on silent too. It’s fucking annoying how often people are trying to contact me or send me shit. I ended up on the phone for two hours this morning playing therapist for a coworker, time I’ll never get back.

Anyway, this shit is after two weeks:

I have my settings to discard everything after 30 days but it still gets ridiculous so every couple weeks I delete all texts and recent calls. That’s only the stuff I’ve ignored too. It blows my mind how much people are obsessed with their phones.
