That is because Trump is Trump, and the norms changed around him. Before he entered the scene, former presidents were always referred to as “President” unless the current president was there too and a distinction needed to be made.

Most people who would feel called to show respect towards a former president don’t feel that way towards Trump.

Hard to watch? Other than the obvious brutality of the crucifixion, I remember that movie as being a middle of the road flick. The Aramaic dialogue was pretty cool though.

I learned this recently: eau de toilette means it is a lightly scented cologne made for short term wear. Eau de parfum is a stronger scent for longer wear.

Eau de toilette is the most popular type of men’s cologne in the USA.

I watched Malcolm X starring Denzel Washington last night. He talks a lot about how a history of oppression creates a mental slavery in the victims, and that the mental servitude must be overcome to stand a chance at being truly an equal.

Maybe you should give it a watch and see if it speaks to you too. It didn’t inform me of how to fix all the problems in the world, but it definitely gave me a lot to think about when it comes to addressing the problems in yourself so you can be an example for the world.

I’m with my people—Linux nerds and fringe liberals. If the horde finally comes for us, I’ll be proud to stand with my Lemmings.

Plus, this place finally got me proficient with Docker, so that was nice.

It could be a huge variety of things. Maybe one company they all used went under. Maybe there was a bust. Maybe there was a global event (fire, flood, war) that has messed with the connection to an essential part of the system.

Whatever it is, it isn’t a good idea to make it public unless it really is the absolute end. Doing so only reveals how the system works, which makes it weaker. All anyone can and should do is simply wait and keep seeding.

But you’re forgetting the most important thing—people don’t want to change. They want a big corporation to tie themselves to because brand loyalty is a replacement for the need to learn.

Linux isn’t going to replace your phone with AppleCare. Linux doesn’t have a support line to bitch to or a geek squad to call. In fact, most of the places your typical user would think to go for support will likely balk at a Linux system because they aren’t power users either—just employees trained for a specific service.

I love Linux. I flirt with going 100% FOSS all the time. But I wouldn’t recommend it for my mom. All the free security in the world couldn’t replace the value of being able to tell her “take it to Apple and let them fix it for you”.

So yes, I’m with you, but I also think we need to acknowledge that all tools serve a purpose, and some people prefer the kids meal over the big boy buffet—and that’s ok.

“Unto them from whose eyes the veil of life hath fallen may there be granted the accomplishment of their true Wills; whether they will absorption in the Infinite, or to be united with their chosen and preferred, or to be in contemplation, or to be at peace, or to achieve the labour and heroism of incarnation on this planet or another, or in any Star, or aught else…” - Aleister Crowley

I wish you safe passage to whatever comes next. I’ll remember you.
