I have the same idea on my mind for a while but seeing how messy the Android space is (mix of gamers and tinkerers), how heavy it is to compile a ROM (250Gb of data), knowing how shity vendor shares - if any - drivers... I feel that it would be better to throw away (in a recycle park of course) that ie: samsung s4 an buy a basic music player.

it's sad that it is so difficult to build a minimal ROM for an obsolete but still powerful smartphone.

antisemitism blackmail is finished.

We need to support true open hardware or less ACPI-WIndows first one. MS can do whatever they want with their OS BUT it should not mess with hardware.

I expected Framework to be a FOSS first laptop but eventually, it just became a wintel derivative.

I agree. it has the right balance and you still have a full RJ45 slot :) My only issue with is the loose USB-C ports, it's not firm like the Macbook or even Elitebook.

I agree even though I am not a Gnome user on my own computer for a while as they keep fucking around with changes. Gnome is a pretty good desktop to me for, clutter free.

And by the way, kudos to fediverse instances, you do a crazy job. That's the only good thing of this AI techno, detecting such crap and obliterate it. I don't care about false positive. if there's a false positive, OP could still try to defend their case if necessary.

unfortunately, I do that often. Even when using meta search engine which sources to google, Google UX and results are simply better but sometime feeling is just not rationale

regarding duckduckgo, it is simply too long to type and people rarely configure their browser, especially on mobile.

so yeah, in a sense, Weinberg is right. At the very least, a choice should be provided on first run but you can't force people to be curious.

Not the cable but the port. Some are stiffer (better) than others. The USB-C port of my monitor is broken/loose, same for my thinkpad t490s. But my smartphones's USB-c port are good though, strange because they should get more mechanical stress than my monitor or thinkpad.

So, you are not using Chrome for the web? if it is not for the web, it's fine you don't have to switch :)

OK... Can we free Assange or Snowden?

[-] WuTang@lemmy.ninja 1 points 1 year ago

it should not. the 1st one should be that it is not opensource and 100% the cause of a X blackscreen on upgrades.

AMD plays the game (no pun intended), so let's go with it. If you need nvidia for CUDA for ML, standard are on the way to allow to use any GPU.
