I got those same specs for like 250$ on a used dell latitude that supports ubuntu natively lol. And runs other distros perfectly too.

The neutrality is the issue a lot of these responses have imo. People are too complacent. Standing up for yourself and being direct is not a bad thing.

I think a direct approach is best and not caring if the person gets offended but also not trying to offend them. Something like "Sorry i don't feel comfortable with you asking about my personal life can we keep the conversation professional?"

Then if they dont accept that, and keep at it is when youd go to HR.

mine just kinda fixed itself for no noticeable reason. Maybe try a reinstall, and reboot?

ya that may be it

Yeah like during covid lockdown just people driving around less had huge positive effects on the environment. If we could just adopt some of what we did in lockdown like remote work for everyone who can do it permanently it would make a huge difference. And there are tons of ways we could just be less wasteful in general but people dont bother.

If you have a window to put one in a window AC unit can be life changing and you can get them for a decent price. I know it might still just be too expensive but if you can afford one i highly reccomend it. You can even bring it with you if you ever move apartments.

Your not gonna get much from that. Your much better off looking for more efficient processors. If your looking at a brand new tuxedo you have a pretty high budget already so id suggest waiting a bit and looking at the new mobile CPUs from intel and amd coming out which seem to have really good efficiency. Linux support for them should roll out pretty quick since its not like they have the same challenges as ARM chips being x86.

Ah ya i think theyre gonna come out with like really efficient ways to run it locally. Just basic stuff at first tho nothing too crazy. But itll need special hardware like the new NPUs their pushing and theyll have NPUs get obsoleted like every year to try and push people to buy new hardware. Personally im not interested and will be sticking with my non-ai hardware lol.
