Read the above. I'm having issues with them winning at all, given the implications for the future security of Europe.

I get your point about the balkanization of US politics, but frankly it's called for in this particular instance (as well as the Jan 6 coup attempt I am referring to) as it's quite literally the conservative party's representatives blocking the effort to give aid to Ukraine in congress. No ifs, buts, or both sides-isms about that.

To be fair though, the soreness from regular exercise is what you get in the tradeoff. I have both a regular cardio and strength program I run through every week (5 days of exercise) and a pretty active lifestyle (2 days of outdoor activities every week (hiking, mountainbiking, splitboarding, etc)) and I am generally sore at least somewhere in my body.

Yeah, see. This is the sort of thinking we accuse the right of, and it's just as unflattering a look here as it is when they do it. Can we at least try to not sink to this level?

The difference between my Zojirushi and the Black and Decker we had prior is indescribable. My home made bread suddenly wasn't dry from the middle down and would last without losing freshness for a whole day extra. With the same ingredients. It's absolutely worth it to buy a quality bread maker.

One has to wonder if we wouldn't be better off without social media. Sure, it's done a lot of good in helping people connect and exchange ideas, but some of those people aren't acting in good faith, and some of those ideas are just plain terrible. I don't claim to have the full solution, but it would be a great first step if the equivalent of a fairness doctrine were to be introduced to the algorithms these platforms use to weed out rampant misinformation.

I need to re-read the lyrics to that song, it's one of my favorites by APC.

Thanks. I did not know that, but after reading into it 10000 days now feels a lot more personal.

That's not the point I am trying to make. The point is that even those "common sense" judgements change over time, and even if you manage to get out in 5 years or less that career you picked based on common sense might be going through a recession, regression, is being replaced by foreign labor or technology, etc. etc.

I am sorry, but your proof invalidates your argument. Look at the story we're responding to - she had 5k in debt that spawned into multitudes due to her inability to pay it back as a result of living paycheck to paycheck. 20k or 30k is not a small amount of money for people living a minimum wage existence.

Funny that. I moved to Canada too. While I live remote enough to not see many traffic lights on the regular, I do agree with you that they're horribly timed in most cities. And while we're on stuff that makes no damn sense over here: right on red is the stupidest thing anyone ever came up with in terms of traffic laws. It alone is responsible for (iirc) 30% of fatal accidents in North America. Whoever thought it'd be a good idea to have pedestrians cross at the same time as allowing cars to take a corner into them is an absolute madman. It's almost as if they want to encourage pedestrian/cyclist crashes with motorvehicles. I mean, left on red (BC and some other places) for as stupid as it sounds even makes (a very little bit) more sense than right on red. At least you're encouraging crashes between motorvehicles with that one instead of promoting running over squishy human bodies with a metal death box.

With a cellular data subscription that we will then be required to pay a monthly fee for, to make sure the TV continues to work. You didn't think they'd be giving this away for free, right?
