Why aren't they matching the 104%?

James Borghesani, a spokesperson for the Suffolk County DA, said in a statement that they were “dismayed and surprised” when Martell-Lebron was detained. He said their office asked ICE to return Martell-Lebron.

I'm sure they'll drop him right back off at the courthouse if all the kindhearted prosecutors do is ask nicely. /s

As long as corporate news outlets and social media platforms continue to control the narrative, they can spin stories in Trump's favor to keep his approval rating artificially high as he plunges the country into despotic wreck and ruin.

When subscribing to a service means supporting a company that would arbitrate your wrongful death at their hands, or tailor its products to be more appealing to bigots and racists, the only ethical course of action is piracy.

They probably made more than $20 million from kids buying loot boxes without parental consent, making the fine just a cost of doing business...

The problem with federating with Threads is that then anyone who wants to join the Fediverse will just join Threads (especially the people already using Instagram or Facebook), leaving the success or failure of the Fediverse in the hands of a company whose interest is to attract as many people as possible to its platform, not contribute as an even partner in a federation.

If we're to have any chance at convincing more Reddit users to join the Fediverse, the main Lemmy and Kbin instances need to stick together. While the piracy community being among the biggest arguably doesn't make for great optics (having a greater variety of communities above the 50k user mark would help bring more users to Lemmy), a fragmented federation only helps Reddit. Beyond that, this community has rules in place to ensure that posts stick to the discussion of piracy, and not piracy itself.

Clearly they're just looking for a scapegoat to justify yearly price hikes. If it were anything else, they might have realized that the increased revenue stream isn't actually going to the people involved in content production...
