Another day it occurred to me that time as we know it doesn’t exist in the lawn, since grass never dies or is allowed to flower and set seed. Lawns are nature purged of sex and death. No wonder Americans like them so much.

Before tractors, almost the entire food chain involved animal slavery, since farms used draft animals. For that matter, even transportation was based on animal slavery (horses). Many of the sustainable and high performance fabrics like wool, silk, and leather are now replaced by synthetic fossil-derived plastics. But petroleum is also an animal product.

To be vegan, is to choose fossilized animal products and services over fresh.

It’s simply a service problem. NFL offers great streaming for those abroad because they don’t have exclusive deals with networks. If you want to watch NFL you need numerous subscriptions, and hope you don’t live in the wrong area.

The root cause is economic. Wealth is being transferred to the billionaires at a growing rate. This causes difficulty for most people. If we were smart we would unify and tax obscene wealth, and everybody would be happy. But instead, those billionaires spend hundreds of millions of dollars stoking the flames of a culture war. They amplify every emotional issue to motivate emotional (outrage/anger/fear) voting. Now instead of liberals pushing progressive tax policy, they just vote for moderate democrats because the only other choice is a fascist. And if it wasn’t that, they’d stoke liberals into a Green Party socialism craziness and vilify it, so that again the sensible choice is moderates.

The real question you should ask is why are most representatives on both sides millionaires? There’s really only a handful of congress members who don’t already have millions in assets. I’ll answer it for you - it’s almost impossible to get elected without a major campaign donation. Rich people fear poor people rising up, so they throw money at measly millionaires to do their bidding and keep their power.

In summary: the rich control 90% of who gets elected on both sides. The rich get whatever they want, because everybody else thinks they need to vote based on a couple issues they saw on TV. The actual candidate doesn’t matter. They’re all billionare’s puppets, who vote on party lines in order to get re-elected. Stir the pot and lose your position.

Not exactly accurate. The button can still say Buy. The law says that they have to get extra acknowledgment from the buyer that they actually mean license. So it will say buy, and then it will pop up and say you aren’t buying the game, only a license, and then you have to click ok I understand. More nags. What we really need is another license agreement to pop up that nobody reads.

70% of those almonds are exported. But you should take a pathetic dribble of a shower.

For those who don’t know, the flow restriction plug can be removed from most shower heads. But you didn’t hear it from me.

Maple syrup is tree blood. Kind like tree vampirism.

I don’t think wood smells like food. But I wonder… apparently termites have a bunch of gut bacteria to digest wood. Maybe if you eat raw termites and bark beetles, you can then eat some sawdust. If you continue the process eventually you may be able to eat wood or paper with your own gut biome. Maybe start with a termite, sawdust, and banana smoothie and move up from there. Best of luck.

The solution is simple, as it is for gay marriage. Marriage is not recognized by the state/government.

I believe the most computer proficient people were born between 1975 and 1995. Before that and they were too old to figure it out without a lot of effort. After that they grew up with touch screens and it’s all just magic. Right in the middle we were able to grow along with advancements in computing.

I was teaching a class with mostly students born after 2000. One of them had never used a computer with a keyboard and mouse. Never used folders and files. Kind of blew me away.

Current mainstream mitigation measures may be insufficient to halt sea-level rise, implying that radical measures may be required. Geoengineering—which can be described as a mechanism to mitigate unprecedented sea-level rise—has garnered scientific interest in line with the present state of climate change. This study investigates traditional and modern geoengineering techniques through a systematic literature review. The results suggest that conventional and pioneering techniques can decrease sea-level rise, and those optimal results would be achieved through the cooperation of methods. Ultimately, findings from this review informed five strategies: tactical application of conventional geoengineering; optimisation through technique alignment; adaptation to receding coastlines; a global platform for project collaboration; and progression of research capabilities. These strategies, in turn, informed a procedural guideline for policymakers who seek to mitigate sea-level rise.

Precipitation enhancement, commonly called “cloud seeding” or “weather modification” is a scientific method to artificially stimulate clouds to produce more rainfall and snowfall than would be produced naturally. The primary mechanism is to inject substances, such as silver iodide or ice crystals (cloud seeding agents), into the clouds, enabling snowflakes and raindrops to form more easily. Various cloud seeding programs have been operational since the late 1950s. The majority of programs continue for a number of years during winter months and as conditions warrant. The following is a summary on previous cloud seeding programs in California.

According to Social Security’s Actuarial Life Tables, Joe Biden has a life expectancy of 7 years, and there’s about a 1/3 chance he will die before he is 86.

Trump currently has a life expectancy of 9 years, and there’s about a 1/4 chance he will die before he is 82.

So, as it’s looking now, regardless of the election results it’s about a 29% chance that the next president dies in office. At that level of risk you basically have to plan for it - or it would be foolish not to.

Salt is sodium chloride. Sodium is a metal, and it is right below Lithium on the periodic table (behaves and reacts similarly).

On the other hand, Gowdiak has not provided the technical details of his findings to Microsoft. The researcher is displeased with the way the tech giant handled his previous PlayReady vulnerability report, saying that his work was mostly ignored. Gowdiak claims Microsoft has now requested additional information on the findings, informing him that the research may be eligible for a bug bounty reward, but the researcher says at this point he is only willing to share the information with the vendor through a commercial agreement.

We need a federal constitutional amendment of bodily autonomy. Abortions, tattoos, personal drug use, gender reassignment, plastic surgery, suicide, neuralink, etc. All the same issue: My body, fuck off. You can make it more complicated than that but it’s not.

It doesn’t matter whether you agree with face tattoos or not. Nobody is making you get one. It’s not your concern. An artist can choose not to give face tattoos, as a doctor can choose whether they want to give a vasectomy to a young child-free man. But the government should have no say about what a person is allowed to do or have done to their own body. The government can regulate to make it safer, but not disallow.

Elysium!

You’re not wrong. And anybody who could afford to stop them is too busy fighting a culture war to organize. Who do you think is stoking animosity? MLKJ wasn’t assassinated for civil rights, it was for the Poor Peoples Campaign. The only thing that could stop them is the unity of all those living paycheck to paycheck, regardless of religion or race.

Just weigh and charge people with their baggage. Privacy and embarrassment about mass can be blamed on the bag.
