I bought this back in December. It took me a couple months because the curse of owning so many games as that I want to play all of them, so I rarely finish any of them. But this year, I've resolved to finally beat more games.

And Gris was quite an experience! It's a 2D metroidvania with puzzle platforming elements. But I also feel that's selling it short.

I felt like I was inhabiting a hand-drawn animated film. This was cinematic in the best way possible. This was a tour-de-force in terms of visuals and sound. It's certainly not anything that will break your GPU, but in terms of pure art, this was breath-taking.

And it was an emotional journey too. At its core, this is game is about grief and loss. This one is a tearjerker.

I think what makes this game exceptional is how you interact with colour. As the game starts, everything is stark and minimalistic. But as things go on, the palette opens up and the world comes alive.

This isn't a long game. I completed it in a little over four hours. But it makes such an impact over those four hours.

Definitely, I recommend this. I played this on my Steam Deck, and it made for an excellent experience as I played this in several environments on the go. Phenomenal. One of the best games ever made.

A free game made by a solo indie developer. This is basically a Sokoban-style puzzler. Its aesthetic is minimal yet attractive. Also compatible with Mac.

[-] atomicpoet@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

What makes them not random is that I find them interesting. That is, I think they're worth talking about.

Some of them I have played personally, even if just for a few seconds. Others, I played the demo. And yet others, I have wishlisted and may buy later.

I currently have 6,881 games in my Steam account, so believe me, I play a lot of games.

If your "point" is that we should not give space to indie games because there's lots of them, you're mistaken. And if you don't like indie games, even though PC gaming is mostly about indie gaming, block me and move on. I don't give a damn about your "feed".

Nope, not a bot. You've spoken to me a few times.

These are not "random" but games I think deserve attention.

Do you realize 20K games were released on Steam last year but few of them were ever noticed?

New low poly visuals. The music also seems quite nice. This whole game was made by one solo indie developer. No reviews yet, but a demo is available to play. With an introductory price of C$16.19, this is slightly expensive for what it is. However, if you like the demo, it's worth checking out.

This is a VR-only FPS, but it also has tracked controller support. Mostly positive reviews and it's somewhat affordable.

A re-release of the following Yu-Gi-Oh! games:

  1. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

  3. Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule
  4. Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories
  5. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists
  6. Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters
  7. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul
  8. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2*
  9. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards
  10. Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction
  11. Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel
  12. Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2004
  13. Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler
  14. Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 Trials to Glory: World Championship Tournament 2005 (Yu-Gi-Oh! Day of the Duelist: World Championship Tournament 2005)

Full gamepad support, verified for Steam Deck, and online PvP.

This was developed by Digital Eclipse (a.k.a., Atari) and published by Konami. It should be good, and it mostly has decent reviews. But a few people complain about the price tag, which is C$59.99.

[-] atomicpoet@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

I, too, am surprised this was re-released on Steam. Yet here it is. And if you like the original Mafia II but don't own it, it can be yours for C$29.99. And by the way, this has gamepad support.

[-] atomicpoet@piefed.social 5 points 3 weeks ago

The real test will be when it's released with SteamOS pre-installed.

[-] atomicpoet@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

The 8-bit art style is highly appealing to me, and I like that this is in glorious 4:3 aspect ratio. You can control this with keyboard, mouse, or gamepad. Castle Xenon is also cheap, with its introductory price at C$7.64.

I'm sharing this one because if it's anywhere as good as the artwork implies, it's probably fun. Plus, how often do you see a rogue-like shooter starring a fisherman? FISH FEAR ME is made by a solo developer named Heather Flowers, and she's already made the well-loved SNAKE FARM. The graphics are kind of basic but full of charm.

A smooth roguelite shooter from the creators of RACE THE SUN, featuring a voiced cast of feline pilots in a dramatic showdown against corporate-powered robots called The Swarm. Features a 3-act campaign with branching paths, epic bosses, and a wide arsenal of pilots, ships, and weapons.

Another horror game, but this one has PSX visuals. Plus, it's free. It has something to do with a cult and it has multiple endings.
