We need a Linux phone.

For now a linux phone will still lack native banking apps, cardless payment and government apps. Unless the app can run on a degoogled OS (Graphene, waydroid, etc.).

By open trust platform do you mean something akin to play protect?

The clicks website states "We’re committing to a minimum of 4 years of Android version updates and 5 years of security updates." In the FAQ section. But it was changes recently from the initial 2 years of updates.

That's how VLC 4 looks like. It haven't been released yet. If you want the old UI you should look for the latest release instead (VLC 3.0.21)

Tools to do that exists. fwupd is a tool to update firmwares. I just tested it on a thinkpad and went from 351 keys to 518 secureboot keys.

GNOME Software also uses fwupd, that should take care of a good chunk of users.

Haven't heard about the "PolyForm Strict License" before. It looks to be a young project, yet feature rich.

I started bringing my zilpzalp to work. with my sunset switches I'm a little self conscious about the noise, not that it's much louder than the standard keyboards we are given.
How do you like the nocturnals and have you tried other choc switches?

I didn't even know the dash was optional. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Stalw.art allowed me to create an email with spaces. Thunderbird also allowed me to send to the address, even though it has a warning symbol and says "[...] is not a valid email address".
And to my surprise it was also delivered sucessfully.

Edit: I also wanted to see if Lemmy allowed spaced emails. It does not :(

open source cars I wonder if that's a thing

I recently heard Mercedes have some focus on open source.

No. Its using https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/ as the source, where the 3 percent is from the desktop category.
Overall android has the biggest market share at 40% with windows as a runnerup at 28%.

Being able to have a spare battery in case of emergency (or simply app train/bus tickets) is going to be nice. It's going go be exciting to see how apple will try to circumvent this.
