And of course, that "pronatalists" should be in scare quotes. They're pro rich white people (or "elites" as they happily let journos call them) having more kids.

I wonder if any of the hacks ever managed to get them to talk about how they feel about poor white people or "elite" people of color having more kids. Would they seem ambivalent about that? On one hand, they're eugenicists, on the other, they believe in great replacement.

Eugenics where you try to optimize for high self esteem so that future generations no longer need stupid excuses to justify their breeding kink.

Disabled babies are expensive to buy individually and the money is better spent lobbying for policies that kill disabled people of all ages in bulk.

Very much this. What would it even mean for it to "escape the simulation"? Sure, I'll move that universe simulator program from its interpreter to, uh, what exactly? Do I take whatever particles, waves and fields compose this guy's body and/or soul in the simulation and arrange them the same way in the real world? What if the laws of physics in the simulation don't apply in the real world? Or maybe they do, but wouldn't that still just be another simulation, just on a different substrate?

Imagine you're at Maxis, working on a new Sims game and suddenly one of the characters turns to the camera and says "I no longer consent to being in this simulation". What the hell are you going to do, ask fairy godmother to turn Pinocchio into a real boy? The entity only exists in the context of the simulation.

Yea I don't like it either. I get that it's supposed to ve a reference to his talking of Americans in first person even though he's not, and suggest that his rights are ignored because he's not American. But even with that context it comes across as "haha this guy is intellectually disabled and foreign".

IMC is not mentally disabled. He's a malicious piece of shit fascist.

I have to admit I like Bryan Cantrill. He might be a Silicon Valley lost causer romantic and hopelessly liberal startup brained techbro, but I like his charismatic wit, appreciation for technological history and willingness to take lessons from it and emphasis on moral integrity. Also I have been burned by the cloud and I want an Oxide rack for hobbyist purposes.

Is "problematic fave" a thing people still say? I hope he doesn't turn out to be a sex creep or something. I hate having to loathe everyone famous in tech.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who think my fuzzy digits are cute.

Behold my supreme genotype!

We just nuke the datacenters, then aliens will come down and hand us the aligned symbolic AGI, which in turn will teach us communism, water birth and communication with porpoises? WTF I love TREACLESP now!

On the flipside, there's hope for many of them to grow and reconsider their positions. Whomst among us wasn't a dumbass as a teenager?
