Huh? First 9 years of school is absolutely mandatory where I come from, now 12 I think soon.

Then after 12 years of school you still need a degree for most job listings. That's optional but it's free so you're seen as uneducated if you don't get a degree.

I've definitely read all the XKCDs at one point, though that might've been about a decade ago so I'm not sure if I've read ALL the newer ones after that. Definitely been trying to keep up though.

That's about how it feels, yes.

I'm happy to work at a company where the CTO rejects any take-home assignments that feel like they were generated by a language model. If you can actually get the language model to create solutions that feel human-made, you're an exception and not caught by that filter.

Maybe, but then if you abolish wage-labour, you just have a different type of work needed to survive. Either you're going off-grid and living all on your own, which would mean you don't have a lot, but you're truly independent - or you're part of a society where you don't get paid a wage, but instead receive certain living conditions similar to everyone else's, and you're expected to work to the best of your ability.

Yes, working for a wage is unnatural. But then being part of a large society with super specialized roles is unnatural. We've been doing unnatural for thousands of years now.

You can have agriculture without private property, sure. You CAN'T have food without work. Or devices for shitposting without work. No housing without work.

Work, and needing to work to survive, is not unnatural, hoarding the results is.

Common mistake, the word 'strawberry' actually has four Rs. Let's count the R's together.

S - 0

T - 0

R - 1

A - 1

W - 0

B - 0

E - 1

R - 0

R - 1

Y - 0

No, that's what tankies say all the time. If you're not of that opinion, why the fuck are you defending them?

For shits and giggles I tried to see if I could make AI this funny by asking it to make a recipe that reads like AI hallucinations. Nope, goes way over the top, even when I tell it to tone it down.

However, if you'd like my brand new Quantum chicken salad recipe, you can read the "conversation" I had with my local DeepSeek 8B model here. It was funny in its own way, but it really couldn't do subtle.

I liked this bit though:

  1. Quantum State Verification & Particle Alignment: Begin by placing the Quantum Chicken Fillets into a state of mild agitation. Subject them to a low-frequency oscillation (5 Hz +/- 0.5 Hz) for exactly 47 seconds. This primes the protein lattice for optimal batter adhesion. Verify via palpation (a light, non-intrusive touch).

Yes, Citroën is just another word for lemon

I'll show myself out

(also I don't actually hate Citroën, only Peugeot. Citroën used to make cool shit)

No I think it would be better in real life. To scare interns. Not actually develop the megapox.

Where do you stand on the war in Palestine and where do you stand on the war in Ukraine?

But the same people usually praise other regimes that also abuse human rights. It's not about the humanity, it's about not being the right brand of authoritarianism (the right brand is anti-west)

I suspect once Trump goes far enough up Putin's ass and turns on its European allies, tankies will also start celebrating the USA and ignoring everything that the US is doing in... *gestures broadly everywhere*

For some reason or another, a whole third of all mechanical keyboards in the biggest local computer retailer's online store, are Ducky. Probably because they have ISO and ANSI layouts, a lot of colors, different sizes, and different switches. And they're ordered from abroad when bought, not stocked locally. So loads of choice and no cost showing them as available.

So since my only real options here if I want a full keyboard or TKL with blue switches are a couple of different Ducky models (one 3, Shine 7) in various colors, I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with Ducky? I've read both praise and hate online, so can't really make heads or tails of the quality.
