well said. I can't remember the title, but I watched a documentary on the Lego company a few years ago. iirc, at one point, when they were showing some of the manufacturing process, they showed a fucked up brick, and how they try to destroy anything like that, because people act like they're stupid-valuable, so they try to stop that stuff from getting to the public (as I understood it) almost as a way protect idiots from themselves. I get it.

I mean, c'mon, he's a dead ringer for the classic dark forestmen. not that I'm complaining, can always use more medieval characters!

that bag is worth its weight in gold. hard to say any specific set from completely random pieces, but there's a lot of good shit in there, absolutely.

it's literally always projection. every time. every fucking time.

Anyone here have a great build experience recently? What sets (or MOCs, Bricklink series, etc) have impressed you that you want to recommend?

That's all, nothing else to this post. Why am I posting this? Is this an ad, a review? I don't know, but the entirety of the build, the pacing, new elements, everything is wonderful.

If you're into the botanical or architecture sets, or just want a display piece that looks great from any angle, I cannot over-recommend this gem. Plus, finding it for under $80 new (~30% off $110 msrp) isn't too difficult; I found one on eBay for $70.

that's not true!

he cannot possibly look more foolish, at this point.

I fuckin hate how right you are.

goddammit.

This set was super fun to build; I love the greebling. are there any other sets like this, where the detailing is not just a feature, but basically the entire build?

been thinking about getting this set, but didn't want to spend the money, so I made it with parts I have... and made it infinitely cooler by implementing the M-Tron color scheme!

Don't think too much about the specific ships and colors and how they relate to the films; I know that part doesn't make any sense. but it's cool, imo.

Some more pics (as always, which apps will display all 5 images? who knows!):

so, Oregon had "the biggest increase in synthetic opioid deaths among states" 😱

"...that have reported their numbers."

I feel like that last phrase is doing a lot of work. I'm not going to put in the work to figure out the numbers, but it's a weird place to end the article.

so, what are y'all working on? a few months back, I decided to build 6085, the Black Monarch's Castle. I always loved that set, but didn't have it when I was a kid, so I built it with the parts I have. then I modified it with some more modern touches, like the cheese wedge crenellation (yeah, that's not very modern, it's all relative). then I decided to expand. then expand more and more, to the point where it is now, with a very similar size and shape to the Ninjago city gardens.

staircases!

elaborate brick work!

modularity!

What happens when you buy too many (or just enough) of the same set, and have no choice but stretch and exaggerate the original frame to comical proportions.

Someone suggested I mod it into a cube-shaped bus, and I really like that idea. Might get to that lil project some day.

Hope this post gives someone a laugh. I had a lot of fun working on it. Still have enough bricks for a few more levels.

What else should I do with this monstrosity?!! With a slight moderation, I think the bus will fit through the garage door rollers. So, comically tall, absurd garage to house this abomination?

(looks like I can add more than 1 pic to a post now, hooray)

Store tomatoes are not tomatoes. Unless you're buying somewhere legit and expensive af, the tomatoes you see in stores are picked green and gassed to turn red. They are dog shit. Probably worse, actually. Seek out local farms near you and get the good shit (and often cheaper than places like whole foods).

Tomatoes are one thing I never buy in a store, except sauce/canned tomatoes, as those products are derived from ripe tomatoes.

Don't put tomatoes in the fridge, if possible. Put them in the sun, if they need to ripen more, otherwise put them somewhere dark and cool, but not cold.

Basically, store them like potatoes. 50-55F is ideal. They can stay for weeks like that.

(This is all said with the understanding that the tomatoes are whole/uncut. Once they're chopped up, the fridge is the best option, but they're only good for a few days)

Yes, please stop feeding the troll. He's clearly using the movie's success to leech off of. So many people I know that have never mentioned him have been bringing it up, and I'm just, like, this is exactly what he wants! Your attention is why he has a voice!

Okay, okay, I'm cool, I'm cool. Just tired of seeing this worthless shit nugget have an audience.

Earlier this year I was inspired by the most recent X-wing polybag, and created a whole series of adaptations of similarly scaled Star Wars ships into classic Lego themes. I posted them to reddit, but they've since been deleted. I'm moving them here. What do you think?

Uses only two 8x8 trans-neon orange plates, and a bunch of 1x2 trans-red bricks. Aside from the exposed studs on the one plate, it's a perfect cube. Just don't go rolling it like dice!

Kinda unrelated: Thought I would use this to make my first Lemmy post. Still kinda sad about all the reddit nonsense. I miss Boost.

Now why does this sub have so little activity? I know this is new and young and growing, but... Come on! Guess I'll start posting some of my MOCs to help this space take off!

edit: still figuring out how to use this, specifically how to post a gallery rather than a single image. I've used Thunder (not too bad) and Connect (pretty shitty, tbh), but not any other apps yet. Anyone here have a favorite app so far?
