No idea what the deleted comment you replied to said, but I'm a big fan of bringing the word "dork" back!

The fact that they're your whole life is the problem. You'll understand when you grow up.

£3 a month if you're on a family plan!

Firstly, that sounds like a shit situation to be in, so please don't think I'm dismissing your struggles here.

I don't live in the same country as you and I have no power to even slightly affect your political situation. I read enough bad news about stuff that I at least have a chance to get involved in that sometimes I want to read some funnies on the internet without having to read about another shit situation. It's not because I don't care, it's because it's not worth stressing out further about something I cannot do anything about.

So yeah, that's why people don't want so see US politics everywhere. Just because something is very important doesn't mean it's very important to everyone.

~~So if you disable the thing I suggested, there are ads. Then... don't?~~

Edit: I misunderstood what you meant

[-] bug@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Well yeah, why would they advertise anyone not paying them?

I know it's very popular online to brag about being an asocial shut-in, but believe it or not some people like their jobs and like the social aspect of the office. The problem is the bigwigs applying the same rule for everyone either due to being out-of-touch with normal humans or just through greed, but don't assume your experience is universal!

What makes up the 44GB of non-game apps?

Sorry for the late reply, your link tries to add the . from the end of your sentence to it and breaks so I couldn't see your screenshot until I removed it. I notice you still have blokada enabled, have you tried switching it off completely and then enabling private DNS? I'm not a network expert but it seems like they could be treading on each others toes maybe.

Do you know if it's possible to hide all upvote/downvote scores on comments? I've often wondered if that would kerb the "groupthink" as people wouldn't be pre-influenced by the number, but it would still allow sorting by popular and filtering-out of mass-downvoted comments.

Do you think disabling downvoting will work? While it does encourage people to just downvote things that are already downvoted, the alternative is that you have no way to mark bad/lazy/rude content that isn't actually worth reporting, and you end up in the Facebook-like situation of low-effort stuff filling the space. Hopefully this won't happen while the community is small, but that will probably change eventually!
