The brewery I hang out at sells the onewheels - they're an authorized dealer. The brewer and co-owners all have XR's which they ride all around town. It sounds great, they use them often.....

Except when you talk to them about their injuries... One guy fell and broke his wrist once, another guy broke and cracked a rib, the brewer broke his shoulder one time, then his wrist another time.

Yet they still ride them!!

I got a pint - rode it a few times until I few off once and haven't ridden it since. I'm looking forward to selling it soon enough.

The more tactile, the better I say. The clickity clack is just an added bonus.

I haven't done much with Excel and Word these days, but I have not had a single issue opening standard documents. The PDF import capabilities for LibreDraw work reasonably well. Many MANY years ago I fiddled with OpenOffice and then LibreOffice before moving to Office365 for a while.

Now I'm back to LibreOffice for the past 5+ years and haven't had any complaints

By this point, it kinda feels like to the 1%, there never was a "middle class" - it's an illusion to give people hope.

Lyndon B Johnson once said "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

Totally intentional, it's become natural to spell it that way ;-)

Seems like every major transition from social media platform reduces that length of time for niche communities. It also took Reddit a while to get there as well. But people are already looking for identical communities on lemmy, like the tree ents

Ever heard of "Trump Bucks"? People are literally paying real money with the belief that these are legal tender or will be in the near future. Retail workers have to deal with people trying to buy stuff with these fake bucks all the time and then argue with the employee when told it's not real money

I'm pretty sure it's length of time. If you're on a train next to someone, you won't be for more than an hour or two. Not two days.

When the device follows you constantly for multiple days is likely when it'll make the alert.

Relevant XKCD comic immediately popped into my mind

I have been an RSS user for the past 20 years. I use it for all sorts of stuff including current news, keeping up with technology, health, classified listings (craigslist), site updates, forums, etc.

I used GoogleReader for a long time (RIP), now I use Feedly which is amazing. I hit the ALL button so I get a firehose of news feeds which are sorted by timestamp, NOT some dumb algorithm choosing when and what I see.

As I tell everyone, whenever a current event happens in the world, I see 20+ different headlines from different sites spinning the same story. This lets me cut through the BS and see the real story about what's happening.

I subscribe to a few hundred RSS feeds including a bunch of random useless ones. But here's a few I picked that might be beneficial - note that some of these sites have multiple rss feeds depending on specific topics - be sure not to subscribe just to the main "top stories" feeds.

ABCNews , InvestorPlace, Associated Press, Ars Technica, The Nation, BBC News, CNN, Fox News, The Hill, LA Times, New York Times, MSNBC, Mother Jones, NBC News, NPR, Newsweek, Politico, Time, Scientific America, Slashdot, Techcrunch, TechRadar, The Atlantic, Boston Globe, The Independant, Motley Fool, Google News Top Stories, USA Today, Vox, Wired, Yahoo News, Cnet, Men's Health, TechRepublic, WallStreetJournal, TheStreet

I'd also love to hear some other news sources I can add to my subscriptions, because I know I'm missing a bunch of good ones

I worked with him for 13 years, I wasn't the only one who saw the classic traits

  • Difficulty in reading other’s feelings
  • Aggressive behavior (childishly would throw his keyboard or trashcan across the room during meetings when unhappy with the answers he got)
  • Clumsy muscle coordination
  • Inability to perceive gestures by coworkers
  • Lack of social awareness

The list goes on and on. But needless to say he refused to accept he might have been on the spectrum or get tested despite suggestions by fellow staff members who also dealt with his irrational outbursts on a daily basis

I prefer the tactic "I signed a non-disclosure agreement" - I can't talk about it because of that NDA
