Me: "This binary file is merely an approximate mathematical and statistical transform of the complainant's "Deadpool 3", your honour. If you care to glance through a few A4 pages of the binary representation of both items, you can clearly see that there is no direct copying involved, thus, no copyright claim can be upheld."

Result: $250k fine, two years community service in anti piracy groups.

NVIDIA: "Each copyrighted work was ingested and a statistical model was generated that leverages that information for our own profit. We have no intention of compensating copyright owners for their information."

Result: Oh you! Get out of here, you scamp! Ruffles hair

I have not cared about or terminated A-spec after network cards gained auto MDI/MDIX about 20 years ago.

Yeah , it's really a little strange in OPs case, I can't really recall changing a CMOS battery in ages, like decades of computer use.

It did have a pretty catchy chorus.

Turns out it's about an actual school shooting and not just disliking Mondays.

Back when a school shooting was actually something to write a song about.

Link the east and west coast grids to let afternoon solar on the west coast flatten the evening east coast peaks, pick a big old chunk of desert in South Australia for wind and solar, throw in a few gigabatteries and tart up some hydro systems, done.

Probably only be $10-15 billion or so.

LIVE BLACKBIRDS???

Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,

Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,

Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?

The king was in his counting house counting out his money,

The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey

The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,

When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!

Moral of the story, don't be a minor character in an 18th century nursery rhyme.

What? FLNTRGY brand products are the best ones out there! The cream of the crop! Much better than ZNGTOPF or PNOPTY!

The voltage range depends a lot on cell construction, temperature, load or charge rate, and chemical mix.

For example "lead acid" batteries with lead and sulphuric acid have a cell chemistry voltage of 2.05 volts but their nominal range is 1.8 to 2.4 volts per cell. Translating that to a 6 cell "12 volt" car battery gives you a range of 10.8 to 14.8 volts.

Awesome, now you get only subconscious messages flashed in your eyes.

Blipverts. If I recall correctly, they had some bad side effects on sensitive people.

"We're making the clock app cloud enabled! Now you'll be able to set and clear alarms from any of your Windows™ connected devices! We've also implemented customisable actions with PowerShell scripting now fully integrated! Want your display to show a lovely sunrise every morning? Clock App can do it!"

Next minute -

"Security update 13112023-33: A malicious user can access the internet-exposed ClockAccess™ interface on your devices, setting alarms with scripted actions that can cause complete loss or exfiltration of your data.

To mitigate this issue, we have shifted ClockAccess™ to a more secure, fully cloud-based service. This also means that once updated, the application will be unavailable if there is no internet access. Please adjust your usage of the application accordingly.

As the Clock app runs under a Local Administrator account on consumer versions of Windows™ and Domain Administrator on Windows Server™ machines, this is a high priority update and it will be installed on application startup without user confirmation. You may notice increased resource utilisation by the Clock App, this is a necessary increase due to new and improved security features. It is recommended that at least one vCPU and 1.5GB of memory be made available at all times for efficient operation of the app."

Tell that to my laptop when I'm at the airport and boarding.

It's the same with windows - push power button, "Windows is installing some updates, do not turn off y.." (screen goes blank from the forced shutdown as I continue to hold the power button)

If I'm turning off my computer, I'm turning it off for a reason. Any delay gets in the way of my reason nearly 100 percent of the time.

I'd bet it actually is more sustainable to not include it tbh, plus it is likely more affordable.

Mmm now you're dealing with powered devices that have another two batteries that wear out, plus the battery in the charging case, all the electronics involved, etc etc

Vs a simple plastic connector and an associated amplifier IC that costs about $3 in quantity.
