That sounds absolutely nothing like an old school modem
At first I thought it may have been because of this CVE, but if it has been like that for a month, then it's something else.
Switched over to wayland about 4-5 years ago, have run into a couple of problems dealing with theming, fractional scaling and of course nvidia, but on the whole my experience has been without major issues.
I actually found all the subsonic clients to be quite heavy on my battery, so I just stuck with the one I liked the best.
The word "tiger" is just a massive trigger for me. I assume the expression and similar ones are supposed to evoke thoughts of virility and prowess but I just find them awkward.

Vic 20. I used it to learn basic programing and play games.
Redoubled my efforts to selfhost more services, abandoned reddit and generally started using the www less.
