The titles sound interesting, I would love to hear your thoughts when you have finished these.

Heh, that sound like a fun concept. Going to check these out.

I finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Loved the book. There was lots of science, but it was explained well enough that it wasn't an issue. There were also certain things which may not feel very probable, but it's a science fiction, so I didn't care about that, but I can see some people having problem with that.

Started a manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, Volume 1. Just started it yesterday, after finishing Project Hail Mary, and have almost finished it. I have read a couple of small manga before, but it's my first physical one, so enjoying that. Though, when I got it, I didn't realise JJK is still an on-going series. Personally I prefer something that has finished. Ah well, already started it, so just going to read them slowly now.

Still reading The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll. The book has been a lot more helpful that I expected it to be. I never thought about the "why" part much, at least haven't done so in a while. So, all the talk about mindfulness and chapters about living the intentional life are helpful.

What about you guys? What have you been reading?

A day late, but better late than never!

I finished Grave Peril, third book of Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher. The series has start picking up. This book is much higher quality than the first two.

Currently, I am reading two books.

  • The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll. I have been using bullet journal for nearly a decade, but never got around to reading the book, so finally got it. While there's nothing new in the method, the "why" are interesting, and should help me be more productive.

  • Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Man, what a book. I think this is one of the best book I have read recently. I am more than half-way, and loving every moment of it.

What about all of you? What have you been reading?

[-] dresden@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

That's a very high praise. Going to get it as soon as I can now.

I have been following John Scalzi on Twitter (and now mastadon) for many years, but I still haven't read anything from him. I think it's about time I do something about it.

This was a very busy week for me, hardly got time to read 100 or so pages. Still reading Grave Peril by Jim Butcher. Book 3 of The Dresden Files.

What about all of you, what have you been reading?

This was a nice week for book reading. Don't usually get this much time generally.

Finished The Last White Man by Mohsin Hamid. I didn't like the writing style initially but got used to as I read along. It's a small book, just a little more than 100 pages. An umm... interesting read.

Got my copy of The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson. Really liked the book. It was a fun, light book. There was much less action than I was expecting, after reading the announcement of the book, but that didn't make book any less enjoyable. Finished the book in two days, which I rarely get to do now.

Grave Peril by Jim Butcher. Book 3 of Dresden Files. I have just started it, but it's the same Dresden Files. Nothing to say about that.

What have you been reading?

Haha, take your time. No need to rush through.

On a new livestream Thursday, Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski said that he’s working on another book in the series, which would be the first one in a decade.

The livestream was an interview with Sapkowski and Ukrainian fans organized by Fantastic Talk(s). Sapkowski’s comments on the stream, as translated by Witcher fan site Redanian Intelligence, reveal that he’s been hard at work on the new story for some time now.

“Yes, I’m working on a new Witcher book and quite diligently,” Sapkowski said.

The good news is, the book doesn’t seem far away. Sapkowski seemed optimistic about the timing, saying that “it may take a year, but no longer.”

Ah, nice.

BTW I heard there is another Witcher book in the works, releasing next year. Haven't confirmed the news yet though.

[-] dresden@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

Haven't read that, will look forward to it, but its going to be a while before I reach that point.

I finished Fool Moon by Jim Butcher, and started The Last White Man by Mohsin Hamid. It’s a thin book, and I am almost at the end.

The book is interesting, though I didn’t like the writing style much, but I guess it suits the story, the way it’s told.

What about you? What have you been reading?

Edit: So, I made this post 2 days ago, but turned out there was some issue between lemmy.world and discuss.online so my posts and comments weren’t showing up here. It seems the issue is resolved now. So, that's why the date is 2 days old, and thread is posted late.

Yeah, they are pretty light and quick. Like that about them, not every book need to be dense.

As for The Aeronaut's Windlass, I try not to start unfinished series now (with some exceptions). He started Cinder Spire series about 8 years ago, and the second book is releasing in November of this year. I have read his Codex Alera series, and will read this when he finishes it.

He used to be a very consistent writer, releasing a book pretty much every year, let's hope he gets back into the groove.

Sounds interesting, going to check them out. Thanks!
